DPRK FM Spokesman Denounces U.S. for Mulling Staging Provocative Naval Maneuver

  Pyongyang, October 22 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK Thursday gave the following answer to the question raised by KCNA as regards the U.S. moves to disturb the security and escalate tension on the Korean Peninsula again:
     As already known, the U.S. is mulling staging a large joint naval maneuver with the south Korean navy by hurling the U.S. nuclear-powered carrier Ronald Reagan together with cruiser and Aegis destroyers into the waters off Pusan.
     This is an open challenge to the fair and aboveboard proposal of the DPRK and unanimous desire of the peace-loving people of the world.
     As re-clarified by the DPRK several times, it recently advanced an important proposal for concluding a peace treaty as early as possible to remove the danger of war and create a durable and peaceful environment on the Korean Peninsula under the situation where it is impossible to prevent any clash and defuse the danger of a new war any longer with the existing Armistice Agreement.
     Nevertheless, the U.S. is challenging the above-said proposal by introducing the nuclear-powered carrier and other war means into south Korea again.
    The protracted efforts for dialogue for the denuclearization of the peninsula failed because of the U.S. ceaseless nuclear blackmail and nuclear war exercises against the DPRK.
     The U.S. is still claiming that denuclearization is priority while aggravating the situation on the peninsula through escalating military provocations. This is a far-fetched assertion and sophism reminiscent of the logic of a highway robber who had no opportunity of getting higher education.
     The reality proves that how premature the discussion on the denuclearization of the peninsula was and how urgent the conclusion of a peace treaty between the DPRK and the U.S. is.
     If the U.S. desperately clings to its reckless moves for nuclear confrontation while persistently shunning our call for concluding a peace treaty, it will only suffer a bitter failure and regret for it. -0

 The members of the Workers' Party of Korea and other people are celebrating in a meaningful way the 70th anniversary of the founding of the WPK as the most auspicious, revolutionary holiday.
    The WPK founded by the great Comrade Kim Il Sung is the glorious party of Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, which has developed into an invincible revolutionary party and led the revolution and construction along the road filled with victory under their outstanding and seasoned leadership.
    The cause of the WPK is a sacred historic cause for fully realizing the independence of the masses of the people, the cause of the Juche revolution.
    The 70-year history of the WPK is a history full of proud victories, which has demonstrated the justness and invincibility of the cause of the party of Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.
    Amid the historic struggle to accomplish the cause of the Juche revolution in this long period after its founding, it has developed into a revolutionary party of Juche, into the great party of Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, and wonderfully performed its role as the organization that guides our people to all victories.
    Success in the revolution and construction depends on how a party, the General Staff of the revolution, is built and on how its leadership role is enhanced.
    Thanks to the ideas of Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il on building a party of a Juche type and to their wise leadership, the WPK has been built and developed into a party of the leader, a revolutionary party of the Juche type, in which the unitary character and inheritance of the leader's ideology and leadership are definitely ensured.
    A revolutionary party is, in its essence, the party of its leader that carries out his ideology and cause, and the main thing in its building is to ensure the unitary character and inheritance of his ideology and leadership.
    What is important in ensuring the unitary character of his ideology and leadership is to model the entire party on the leader's revolutionary ideology, achieve its unity and cohesion centred on the leader and ensure that the entire party moves as one under the leader's unitary leadership.
    Guided solely by the revolutionary ideology of the great Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, the WPK has conducted its building and activities as required only by Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, thus developing itself into a powerful body, ideologically pure and organizationally integrated, with the leader as its one and only centre.
    Achieving unity centred on the leader presented itself as an increasingly grave task for the WPK from the first day of its founding owing to the complicated and arduous character of the Korean revolution. It achieved its unity by overcoming factionalism and opportunistic ideological trends of all hues, which had done tremendous harm to the unity of the revolutionary ranks historically, and intensified the struggle to achieve the single-hearted unity of the revolutionary ranks centred on the leader.
    It established a system whereby the problems arising in its building and activities were resolved according to the unitary conclusion by the leader and a revolutionary climate in which its organizations and members carried out without an inch of deflection the lines and policies put forward by the leader.
    That the great Comrade Kim Jong Il advanced the line of modelling the entire WPK on Kimilsungism and ensured that the work of establishing its monolithic ideological system was intensified constituted an occasion for a radical turn in ensuring the unitary character of the leader's ideology and leadership. Development of the WPK into the party of the leader, into the party of Comrade Kim Il Sung, both in name and in reality is a great exploit performed by Comrade Kim Jong Il.
    The WPK solved the problem of inheriting the leader's ideology and leadership in a correct way, so that the unitary character of the leader's ideology and leadership could be inherited from generation to generation.
    Inheriting the leader's ideology and leadership is a serious problem that has a bearing on the destiny of a party and revolution; it is also a fundamental problem in building a revolutionary party.
    History has taught a bitter lesson that a party, even though it has advanced the revolution successfully under the correct leadership of its leader, becomes degenerate and in the end leads the revolution to frustration if it fails to inherit his ideology and leadership correctly.
    Looking to the distant future with far-sighted acumen, Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il laid organizational and ideological foundations and established the leadership system of the leader who would inherit the cause of the revolution, thus ensuring that the leader's ideology and leadership were inherited brilliantly down through generations.
    That it has been led by outstanding leaders generation after generation and ensured the unitary character and inheritance of their ideology and leadership has been the basic factor in the militant might and invincibility of the WPK.
    As it definitely inherited the unitary character of the leaders' ideology and leadership generation after generation, the WPK, even in the whirlwind of ideological degeneration and frustration of the ruling parties in socialist countries, was able to maintain invariably its revolutionary features as the party of Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and provide effective leadership over the revolution and construction, thus effecting gigantic social changes.
    The WPK has been built into an invincible revolutionary party that serves the people and has formed an integral whole with them.
    The leader, the party and the masses form a community in which they share their destiny in implementing the cause of independence of the masses. Just as the masses cannot carve out their destiny independently if they are separated from the leadership of the party and the leader, so the party cannot become a powerful political organization nor satisfactorily perform its role as a political guide if it is separated from the masses.
    Comrade Kim Il Sung ensured that the WPK was built as a mass-based party with workers, farmers and intellectuals as its component elements, oriented all its activities to defending and realizing the demands and interests of the masses, and thus struck its roots deep among them and formed an integral whole with them.
    Comrade Kim Jong Il ensured that the WPK developed into a genuine motherly party that takes care of the destiny of the masses on its responsibility, administered in a comprehensive way benevolent politics and all-embracing politics based on affection for and trust in them, and thus formed inseparable ties of kinship with them.
    The WPK has strived to take responsibility for the people's destiny and look after them with motherly affection and to provide our people, who have supported it with single-hearted loyalty, with a rich and happy life. It has also led officials to eliminate practices of abuse of authority and bureaucratism and work as true servants for the people.
    As the WPK is fully discharging its responsibility and duty as a motherly party that serves the people, our people, regarding its embrace as a genuine motherly embrace, have entrusted their destiny and future entirely to it, and are displaying loyalty to prove themselves worthy of its trust and affection.
    The integral whole of the WPK and the masses based on the former's trust in and affection for the latter and the latter's absolute support for and trust in the former–herein lies the source of the solidity and might of our revolutionary ranks and the basic guarantee for all victories. As it has been backed up by the might of this integral whole, the WPK has been able to advance with confidence in sure victory against the trials and difficulties facing the revolution and wonderfully perform its sacred mission.

    In the historic course of leading the cause of the Juche revolution it has trained our people into a dignified, independent people, into a powerful motive force of the revolution.
    That it has trained the masses of the people into the independent motive force for carrying out the cause of the Juche revolution constitutes its greatest achievement.
    The masses are masters of their own destiny and they are responsible for implementing the cause of independence, but only under the correct leadership of a revolutionary party can they become a genuine motive force of the revolution.
    The WPK set it as its most important task to unite the masses solidly around it and the leader by awakening them ideologically and rallying them organizationally, and has always paid primary concern to it.
    It has united the masses into a single socio-political organism by equipping them with the Juche idea and rallying them around it ideologically, volitionally and organizationally. It has also encouraged them to give full play to their great revolutionary enthusiasm and inexhaustible creativity and thus fulfill their responsibility and role as the motive force of the revolution.
    In our country all the service personnel of the KPA and other people have armed themselves with the Juche idea, the WPK's guiding ideology, as their unshakable faith and achieved single-hearted unity around it, and they are working with devotion to implement its lines and policies.     Socialism is the aim of the working masses, and building it is the most important task facing revolutionary parties.
    The WPK opened up a new path for building genuine socialism that is in keeping with the people's ideals and, in the whole course of the struggle to this end, has consistently adhered to the Juche-oriented revolutionary lines and principles.
    It has resolved all the problems arising in socialist construction in conformity with our people's independent aspirations and our country's specific situation and by relying on its own forces. It has invariably advanced straight forward along the road of Juche-oriented socialism, rejecting intervention and pressure by foreign forces. Even in such trying periods as that of the Arduous March it made sustained efforts to speed up socialist construction by resolutely thwarting the hostile forces' pernicious moves to suffocate our style of socialism.
    The socialism that has been built in our country according to the Juche-oriented line of the WPK and under its wise leadership is a people-centred socialism whereby the masses have become true masters of the state and society and their independent demands are fully realized.
    Our people exercize their rights as masters in all spheres of state and social life, and the politics of respecting and loving them, that of giving top and absolute priority to their demands and interests, is administered in the country. As ours is a genuine socialism for the people, a people-centred socialism, they regard it as their lifeblood and work with devotion to spruce up their socialist land and develop it into a thriving socialist country as soon as possible.
    Under the wise leadership of the WPK and through the devoted struggle of the people who are faithful to it, our country has risen up as a dignified politico-ideological and military power in a short historical period; it is making redoubled efforts to build the knowledge-based economy and socialist civilization in the new century, demonstrating the might of the invincible socialist power.
    By leading the army and people the WPK has built up the tradition of victory in the showdown with imperialists that has continued from one century into the next and thus defended the dignity and sovereignty of the country and the gains of the revolution with credit.
    As long as there remains imperialism, the cause of independence of the masses, the cause of socialism, is accompanied by a fierce showdown with the enemy. As our country has been the outpost in the anti-imperialist, anti-U.S. struggle which has been drawn out from one century into the next and from generation to generation, defending the national dignity and sovereignty and the gains of the revolution from imperialist aggression posed as a particularly important issue for it.
    By consistently adhering to the line and principle of attaching importance to military affairs, the WPK set it as the foremost national affair to build up the revolutionary armed forces and increase the country's defence capabilities and has won victory after victory in the uninterrupted showdown with U.S. imperialism by relying on the country's powerful defence capabilities whose pivot is the KPA.
    Under the wise leadership of Comrade Kim Il Sung our young KPA and people performed the historic miracle of defeating in the Fatherland Liberation War a formidable enemy whose forces were incomparably great, ie, the U.S. imperialists who had been boasting of being the "strongest" in the world. This brilliant victory was the victory of the Juche-oriented military ideas and outstanding military strategy of Comrade Kim Il Sung, an iron-willed brilliant commander, and it was a victory born of the heroic spirit of defending the country of the service personnel and people who fought even sacrificing their lives unhesitatingly for their precious motherland.
    The WPK has always emerged victorious in the showdown with the allied imperialist forces over the past scores of years after the war, foiling the enemy's continued designs for aggression at every step by dint of the might of Songun, the might of a military power.
    Recently when a hair-trigger situation was created, it warded off the danger facing the country in time by demonstrating its leadership ability, thus saving the nation from the holocaust of war and safeguarding the peace and security of the world. That it defended the dignity and sovereignty of the country and the gains of the revolution in this fierce confrontation was a great victory born of our spiritual and moral superiority and the might of the great unity of the army and people who are single-heartedly united around the WPK.
    The immortal exploits and valuable experience achieved by the WPK in carrying out the cause of the Juche revolution under the banner of independence, Songun and socialism are of historic significance in the victorious advance of our revolution and in implementing the cause of independence of the masses.
    By building an invincible socialist power on this land under the unfurled banner of Juche, the WPK has remarkably raised the dignity and status of our Republic in the international arena and laid everlasting foundations for the prosperity of the country and accomplishment of the cause of the Juche revolution.
    The theory of the geopolitical fate of the Korean peninsula which had been in distress as an arena of competition by world powers has already become a thing of the bygone days, and our socialist Republic is exercizing its rights and influence on its own terms as the master of its own destiny and motive force of the development of the situation in the region and the rest of the world.
    The U.S. imperialists and their followers may grow desperate, but the WPK and our people have now become able to build a people's paradise and achieve the eternal prosperity of the country and nation by stepping up the construction of a thriving socialist nation in their own way with their own strength, technology and resources by dint of the might of single-hearted unity and powerful defence capabilities whose pivot is nuclear deterrent.
    The WPK has proved in practice the justness of the cause of independence of the masses, the cause of socialism, and the inevitability of its victory.
    It has led the struggle to defend socialism and build a thriving country with success in the worst conditions and circumstances and thereby clearly showed that the cause of independence of the masses is a justice and socialism is a science.
    Through its historical struggle the WPK has evidently proved the truth of history that socialism and justice are alive on this planet, they are sure to prevail over the imperialists' high-handedness and arbitrariness, and nothing can check the trend of the times towards anti-imperialist independence and socialism.
    The sacred revolutionary cause of the great party of Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il is ever-victorious and the final victory of our revolution is definite as long as it is guided by the WPK-this is the summing up of the glorious 70-year history of the WPK.
    Accomplishing the cause of the Juche revolution under the unfurled banner of the great Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism is a historic mission of the WPK and its unshakable will.
    Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism is the one and only guiding ideology of the WPK and the eternal banner of its victory.
    We should invariably follow the road of Juche to the end as indicated by the great Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism.
    We should develop the WPK forever as the party of Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il.
    We should hold up the great Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il as the eternal leaders of the WPK and organize and conduct its building and activities in line with their ideology and intentions.
    We should staunchly safeguard their ideas of and exploits in building the WPK and add brilliance to them. All the officials and other WPK members should cherish an unshakable faith that they do not know any other ideology than the revolutionary ideology of the WPK, launch an uncompromising struggle against all sorts of alien ideological trends, and thus ensure the definite ideological purity of the WPK.
    It is important to strengthen the unity and cohesion of the WPK in every way and establish steel-strong organizational discipline whereby the entire WPK moves as one under the unitary leadership of its Central Committee.
    A strong sense of organization, discipline and unity are the lifeblood of a revolutionary party and the source of its invincible might. Thoroughgoing revolutionary discipline should be established whereby the entire WPK is united firmly around its Central Committee with one ideology and purpose, all the problems arising in the work and activities of the WPK are brought to it and dealt with according to its unitary decision, and all the organizations and members of the WPK work and live according to the order established within it.
    The revolutionary climate of defending the WPK's ideology and policies and implementing them unto death should be maintained as the eternal tradition. All the organizations of the WPK should regard carrying out its policies as the main thing and persist in implementing its lines and policies without giving it up halfway.
    The integral whole of the WPK and the masses should be further consolidated.
    It is a source of the solidity and viability of the WPK and the most powerful weapon for defending the country and the revolution.
    The entire WPK should hold high the slogan, "Everything for the people and everything by relying on them!" Cherishing the view of Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il on the people, all the officials should believe in them as in heaven, give prominence to them and become their faithful servants who always go deep among them, share weal and woe with them and work with devotion for their benefit.
    The entire WPK should launch an intense struggle against the abuse of power, bureaucratism and corruption, thus maintaining its original features as a revolutionary party of Juche, a motherly party, and thoroughly defending and serving the demands and interests of the masses.
    Under the leadership of the WPK we should bring to completion the cause of the Juche revolution, the cause of socialism, pioneered on Mt. Paektu.
    We should hold fast to the general line for building socialism and thoroughly carry it out.
    The general line put forward by the great Comrade Kim Il Sung, the line of carrying out the ideological, technological and cultural revolutions while strengthening the people's government and steadily enhancing its functions and role, is a strategic line to be permanently adhered to in building socialism.
    We should ensure that our people's government and socialist system are further strengthened and the people's government fully discharges its responsibility and role as the representative of the people's right to independence, the organizer of their creative abilities, the administrator responsible for their livelihood and the protector of their independent and creative life. Work system and method of the people's government should be improved as required by the developing reality, and the unified guidance of the state over society and its functions as the organizer of economic work be enhanced, thereby giving powerful impetus to the building of a thriving country.
    The three revolutions-ideological, technological and cultural-constitute the basic mode whereby the masses in socialist society realize their demand for independence.
    The technological and cultural revolutions should be pushed forward with definite precedence given to the ideological revolution for successful implementation of the remoulding of man and transformation of nature and development of social relations in keeping with the requirements for building a thriving socialist country.
    We should accelerate the building of a thriving socialist nation by holding fast to the WPK's line of attaching importance to ideology, military affairs and science.
    Priority should be given to consolidating the political and ideological position, the primary fortress of our revolution.
    By conducting five-point ideological education among WPK members and other working people, we should prepare them to be giants in ideas and faith who burn their hearts with the revolutionary spirit of Paektu, the spirit of the blizzards of Paektu, and staunchly safeguard our single-hearted unity at any place and at any time, and to be vanguard fighters of the class who are possessed of a thoroughgoing sense of anti-imperialism and class consciousness and strive to fortify our class position, our revolutionary position, rock-solid.
    We must keep a watchful eye over all sorts of moves by the enemy to undermine our socialist system from within, approach these moves with political awareness and never allow any poisonous weeds of capitalism, however trifling, to sprout in the garden of socialism. The whole country should strive to do away with outmoded morality and way of life and give fullest play to the beautiful traits of a large socialist family that is sound and harmonious and in which all the people help and lead one another forward.
    The future of the country and the prospects of the revolution depend on how young people of a new generation are prepared. All the organizations of the WPK should hold fast to its idea and line of attaching importance to young people and channel great efforts into the work with them to rally them closely around it, and encourage them all to become vanguard fighters of the revolution and young Songun heroes who carry forward pure and clean the ideological lifeblood, the blood of faith, of the WPK and share destiny with it to the last.
    Self-reliant defence capabilities are Songun Korea's dignity, sovereignty and guarantee for victory. The WPK's military line of self-reliant defence and its line of simultaneously promoting the two fronts should be carried out for further increasing the country's defence capabilities.
    The KPA should thoroughly establish the command system of the Supreme Commander, a revolutionary military climate and steel-strong military discipline within it, and intensify the combat and political training, so as to prepare all the service personnel to be a-match-for-a-hundred combatants and all its units, an elite combat force. It should always make a breakthrough for advance in the first line of our revolution and give full play to its fighting mettle of "At a Go" and the might of great army-people unity on all the fronts of building a thriving nation.
    We must turn out powerful cutting-edge military hardware of our own style in larger numbers, constantly reinforce self-defensive nuclear deterrent and perfect the preparedness for an all-people resistance.
    It is the determination and will of the WPK to build an economic giant and a civilized nation by dint of modern science and technology at the earliest date possible. We should give definite precedence to the development of science and technology and also concentrate all our efforts on building a socialist nation with powerful economy and high standard of civilization, so that ours will assume all the aspects of a thriving socialist country.
    By adhering to the revolutionary economic line and policy put forward by the WPK, we should vigorously conduct the struggle to attain the goal of building an economic giant stage by stage while focusing our efforts on shoring up the vanguard sectors of the national economy.
    We should direct primary effort to improving the people's living standards in line with the plan and intention of the WPK, so as to ensure that they enjoy the benefits of socialism to their heart's content and lead a happy life without anything to envy in the world.
    We should develop all the cultural sectors including education, public health, sports, literature and art as appropriate to a civilized socialist nation to open up a new heyday of civilization in the 21st century.
    The historic cause of national reunification, a long-cherished desire of the Korean nation, must be realized without fail.
    National reunification is the paramount task for the WPK which has taken charge of the destiny of the country and nation. We must no longer tolerate the tragedy of national division that has lasted from one century into the next. As clarified in the three principles for national reunification, historic June 15 Joint Declaration and October 4 Declaration agreed upon by the north and south of Korea, we should reunify the country independently by rejecting foreign forces and on the principle of By Our Nation Itself. By carrying out the wish and instructions of the great leaders, we should achieve the historic cause of national reunification and build a prospering reunified country on this land.
    We should implement the WPK's foreign policy of independence and thus contribute to realizing the cause of global independence.
    Under the ideals of independence, peace and friendship we should strive to develop relations with other countries that are friendly to us, strengthen friendship and unity with progressive peoples, resolutely frustrate the schemes for aggression and intervention by the imperialist and dominationist forces engrossed in high-handedness and arbitrariness, and achieve global peace, security and independence.
    We are now faced with a heavy yet noble task of bringing earlier the final victory of the cause of the Juche revolution by braving difficulties and trials.
    All the service personnel and people should unite around the WPK with one mind and purpose and step up the general advance for the final victory of the revolution.
    The WPK will, in the future, too, demonstrate to the whole world its dignity and might as the party of Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and etch only victory in the annals of its history.

Kim Jong Un Makes Speech at Military Parade and Public Procession of Pyongyang Citizens

    Officers and men of the units participating in the military parade held in celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the glorious Workers' Party of Korea,
    Members of the Worker-Peasant Red Guards and Young Red Guards,
    Respected Pyongyang citizens,
    Party members and other working people across the country,
    Overseas compatriots and foreign friends,
    Comrades,
    Today, with great pride in and joy of being victors, we are greeting the October holiday, flying high the flag of the Workers' Party of Korea in the sky.
    For our country and people, October 10 is a meaningful revolutionary holiday when they celebrate the birth anniversary of the genuine vanguard of the revolution, its militant General Staff, which has taken responsibility for their destiny and leads them.
    Today's grand military parade and public procession will fully display the inexhaustible strength which our Party has built up over the past 70 years by leading the service personnel and people. It will also demonstrate to the whole world the revolutionary spirit of all our service personnel and people who, full of courage and conviction, are advancing towards a bright future, united solidly around the Workers' Party of Korea.
    Availing myself of this meaningful opportunity, when we are proudly looking back upon the sacred history of the Workers' Party of Korea that is resplendent with victory and glory, I would like to extend, reflecting the boundless reverence and loyalty of the millions of members of our Party and all service personnel and people, the noblest respect and infinite glory to the great Comrade Kim Il Sung who founded our glorious Party and the great Comrade Kim Jong Il who is the eternal General Secretary of our dignified Workers' Party of Korea.
    My noble respect also goes to the anti-Japanese revolutionary forerunners, martyrs of the People's Army and other patriotic martyrs who dedicated all their precious things to promoting the development of our Party and the prosperity of the country in loyal support of the great leaders.
    Our people, with unfailing loyalty to the Party, have tided over all challenges and difficulties in the red revolutionary spirit of Paektu to glorify the 70th anniversary of its founding as a revolutionary, auspicious event, thereby performing unequalled feats of labour and preparing gifts dedicated to their motherly Party.
    As I am standing in the square of victors, the venue for celebrations, which is brimming over with our people's fervent loyalty, I am so grateful to them for this venue of today which would have been unimaginable separated from them, and at this moment I am seeing the dear people with deep respect.
    Our Party has been able to propel the revolution over the past 70 years without flinching whatever the storms, achieving only victory and glory, because this great people have entrusted their own destiny entirely to it and followed it in faithful support of its cause.
    The history of our Party is just the path travelled by our great people, its might is their might, its greatness is their greatness, and its victory is the victory achieved by them.
    On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Party I, on behalf of the Workers' Party of Korea, extend warm thanks with a deep bow to all the beloved people who have infused our Party with inexhaustible strength and courage and remained faithful to it in every grave period of the revolution, sharing weal and woe with it in overcoming the harsh trials of history by dint of unyielding willpower.
    My heartfelt congratulations and warm thanks go to our trustworthy members of the Party, heroic officers and men of the People's Army and laudable young vanguard, who, in hearty response to the Party's appeal, have worked with patriotic devotion and created one heroic miracle after another shortening ten years to one on all fronts of building a thriving socialist nation, so as proudly to enter the venue of the grand festival of victors.
    At the same time I warmly welcome our overseas compatriots and foreign friends who are here to congratulate our people on this auspicious day.

    The history of the Workers' Party of Korea is a proud course it has traveled shouldering the destiny of the people and leading the Korean revolution to victory under the guidance of the great leaders.
    President Kim Il Sung and General Kim Jong Il built ours into an invincible revolutionary party, a genuine political leadership organization, which serves the people and advances in unity with the masses, the first of its kind in history.
    Since it inscribed a hammer, a sickle and a writing brush in its red flag, our Party has never been separated from the people and advanced the revolution always believing in them as in heaven.
    History records no revolution as ours that has braved at every step the grave trials and adversities decisive of its success in such an arduous and complicated situation.
    The new Korea was too young, but the US imperialists, hell-bent on world supremacy, forced a devastating war upon it; when we rebuilt the country on the debris with so much effort tightening our belts, they presented a fresh threat of aggression; and when we were trying to develop our national economy, they blocked our road by imposing the sanctions and blockade unprecedented in history.
    Despite all the difficulties, our Party has always charged forward with iron nerves in any adversity, ushered in a new age of epoch-making changes on this land, and scored only great victories.
    In the whirlwind of history, our Party has trusted our great people only, and they have been its only supporters, advisers and assistants.
    The history of the world revolutionary movement teaches the lesson that irrespective of whether it is a ruling one or has a long history, the leadership authority and fighting efficiency of a party do not rise of their own accord nor can it lead the revolution effectively.
    The high authority our Party enjoys today and the great exploits it has performed are the fruition of the brilliant revolutionary ideas and outstanding leadership of the great President and General, who formulated the revolution as the affection for and trust in the people and applied this definition to its building and activities in a thoroughgoing way.
    In having struck its roots deep into the people's mind and served them only with devotion lies the secret of our Party's leading the cause of independence, Songun and socialism without letup in the face of the tribulations of history while maintaining a firm grip on the steering wheel of the revolution.
    The Workers' Party of Korea is an invincible one that has achieved oneness with the masses of the people.
    In the whole period of leading the revolution, our Party used to call the people first, lend an ear to their opinions, though simple, and draw unquenchable courage from their sincerity whenever it was trying to identify a course it must follow and whenever it faced grave trials.
    The creative strength of the omnipotent masses was the source of the great miracles our Party worked while building a powerful socialist bulwark, independent, self-supporting and self-reliant in national defence, on this land where centuries-old backwardness and poverty had prevailed and ushering in a new era of building a powerful country in the face of pernicious blockade imposed by the imperialists.
    Bearing full responsibility for the political integrity and material and cultural life of the people and taking care of them has been a matter of paramount importance for our Party and a mission it cannot neglect even for a moment.
    That our Party, even in the worst situation decisive of the country's destiny, has prepared precious seeds and socialist assets for the happiness of the people through painstaking efforts and invariably pursued the people-oriented policies is an expression of the politics of love for the people that can be administered only by our Party that has shouldered the responsibility for their destiny.
    As our Party has always regarded the masses of the people as the root of its life and as the source of its inexhaustible strength and given top and absolute priority to their interests, our people have followed it believing it as the genuine guiding light of their destiny and as their mother, and a grand flower garden of single-hearted unity has made its proud appearance on this land.
    Comrades,
    The might of the Workers' Party of Korea which struggles for the people lies in the fact that it has powerful revolutionary armed forces.
    Our people have keenly realized the truth that a people without arms is destined to become a ruined nation and that their dignity and happiness are guaranteed by revolutionary arms.
    Our Party has always channelled primary efforts into building invincible military strength with which it can creditably defend the security of the people and their lives and property.
    Thanks to our Party's original line of self-reliant defence and Songun politics, the People's Army has been developed into an elite revolutionary army that is capable of defeating any aggressor forces at a stroke, and the all-people and all-country defence system consolidated steadily, with the result that our country has now turned into an impregnable fortress, into a world-class military power.
    Our revolutionary armed forces have always been a powerful treasured sword in defending the country, the revolution and the people, and a mighty vanguard force and shock brigade that takes the lead in the struggle for the country's prosperity and people's happiness.
    In the course of organically combining defence of the country with socialist construction after putting forward the line of promoting economic construction and building up defence capabilities in parallel, our Party gained valuable experience in radically increasing the overall national strength by itself and at the same time improving the people's standard of living even though it lacked in everything.
    In direct confrontation with the high-handed U.S. imperialists who have fattened themselves through aggression and war, our service personnel and people have inflicted one ignominious defeat after another upon them and are forcefully breaking through the brigandish sanctions and blockade by imperialist forces. Their indomitable spirit and strength of unity strike extreme anxiety and fear into the enemy.
    Today our Party can proudly state that our revolutionary armed forces are capable of fighting any type of war the U.S. imperialists opt for, and have made full preparations for firmly defending the blue sky over the country and the security of the people.
    Comrades,
    The source of the unique pride for the Workers' Party of Korea is the large contingent of young people who have been trained to shoulder the future of the revolution and the nation.
    Foreseeing the protracted nature of the revolution in the initial period of its founding, our Party set attaching importance to young people as its strategic line and has trained them into warriors for the implementation of the cause of the Juche revolution.
    The entire Party has paid constant concern to educating young people and boldly tasked the youth league with large projects. Under the trust and affection of the Party that has put them forward as its young vanguard our young people have volunteered in every period of the revolution to serve at the posts for national defence and work in difficult and challenging sectors, and displayed their youthful wisdom and courage to the full.
    That our revolution is still advancing vigorously filled with unflagging energy and vitality without stagnation and marking time is because it has a steel-strong legion of young people who always march straight forward following the Party.
    The proud and grand youth monuments in various parts of the country, including the Paektusan Hero Youth Power Station, which our young people have recently set up by devoting their patriotic sweat and dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Party founding graphically show how the reserve force of the Workers' Party of Korea is being prepared and how the lineage of the Korean revolution is being carried forward.
    As our Party has spared nothing for young people, our country has now greeted a fresh heyday in the youth movement and is demonstrating its might as the one and only great youth power, in which the youth problem has been solved perfectly.
    The historical course our Party has travelled leading the Korean revolution to victory through thick and thin eloquently proves that there is nothing to be afraid of and there is nothing impossible if there are a people faithful to their party and a powerful revolutionary army and large contingent of young people.
    The lifeline of a revolutionary party, its strength and its bright future are dependent on attaching importance to the people, to the army and to young people – this is just the invaluable summing up of the 70-year history of our Party.
    By continuing to hold fast to the three-point strategy of attaching importance to the people, to the army and to young people as its foremost weapon, our Party will advance forward vigorously towards final victory and accomplish the Korean revolution.

    The Workers' Party of Korea organizes and guides all the victories of our people.
    The infinite glory and invincibility of our Party originate from holding up the great President and General as its eternal leaders and enjoying absolute support and trust of all the Korean people.
    If our Party is to lead Korea to a bright future, it must invariably defend its revolutionary nature as the party of the great Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism both in name and in reality and exalt its brilliance in every way.
    The great Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism is, in essence, the people-first principle, and the mode of existence of our Party is serving the people.
    True to the ennobling intentions of the great President and General who administered for the first time in history the politics of prioritizing, respecting and loving the people and devoted their all throughout their lives to the good of the people, our Party will, in the future, too, strive to add glory to the sacred history of the people-first principle.
    The entire Party will conduct its building and activities only as instructed by the great President and General, and make selfless, devoted efforts for the benefit of the people by thoroughly applying the people-first principle to its overall work, thereby enhancing its fighting efficiency in every way possible.
    The genuine feature of the Workers' Party of Korea will be expressed in the appearance of the country that is transformed under its leadership and in the looks of the people who always smile happily.
    The people are the most precious as they constitute the foundation of the country, and nothing is more sacred than their interests.
    Our Party will cherish the people's sincere loyalty to it as the greatest asset of the revolution and bring earlier everything splendid of the future by shouldering all the burdens and clearing a thorny path for the sake of our brave, resourceful and beautiful people.
    It will, in the future, too, endeavour to fulfil its heavy yet sacred mission as a motherly party that, full of infinite vitality and untiring zeal, invariably works with affection for the people and devotes its all to their interests. It will also remain boundlessly faithful to its basic duty of taking full responsibility for their destiny whatever the storms.
    The Korean revolution advances not by dint of any mysterious divine power but on the great strength of our people including the heroic Kim Il Sung's and Kim Jong Il's working class who follow and safeguard their Party with a single mind.
    The Party respects and believes in the people as in heaven and regards them as its mentors, and they boundlessly trust and follow it as they would do their mothers–this single-hearted unity is precisely the true appearance of Korea and the great foundation of the Songun revolution.
    Our officials should imbue their hearts with the Party's intention of respecting the people and its affection for them, be infinitely polite to them and clear a path, whether snowy or muddy, to realize all their wishes. In this way they can ensure that cheers for the Workers' Party, for the single-hearted unity and for socialism resound throughout the country.
    It is our Party's belief that all its members, service personnel and working people, regarding their workplaces, military posts and villages as those in the garden of the office of its Central Committee and always sharing their innermost thoughts with it, will fully display their unstained loyalty and patriotism in the efforts to implement its ideas and defend its policies.
    Comrades,
    Our Party will make proactive and persevering efforts to bring earlier the bright day of national reunification, the greatest wish of the Korean nation, resolutely frustrating all sorts of obstructive schemes by foreign forces by dint of single-hearted unity and Songun.

    As the working people exist for ever, lasting justice and victory will be ensured by the struggle for the people and together with the people.
    Regarding as a paragon the noble ideas and achievements of the great President and General, who devoted their whole life to training the people by believing in them as in heaven and exalted the brilliance of Korea, our Party will continue to love the people and fight for them, and strive to translate their beautiful dreams and ideals into reality.
    Any challenges of history and frantic attempts by the enemy will never check the advance of our service personnel and people, who have achieved oneness with the Party, nor can they slow down the fighting speed of the Korean people, who are rushing forward towards a bright future, regarding the Party's revolutionary ideology and the blizzards of Paektu as the motive power for advance and the red flag of our dignified Party as the sail.
    The world will see vividly how the Workers' Party of Korea gives full play to the strength and wisdom of our great people and builds a great Paektusan nation, which will be most prosperous and powerful on this planet.
    As the great Workers' Party of Korea that believes in the people as in heaven, the people who are one and the same with the name of our sacred revolution and its 70 years of victory, is the locomotive leading the revolution and holds the switch weight of history, the avenue of the cause of the Juche revolution will always be adorned with victory and glory.

    Let us all make selfless, devoted efforts for the good of the great people.

In Praise of WPK

October 10 marks the 70th anniversary of the Workers’ Party of Korea.

70-year long history of the WPK is a praiseworthy and victorious one during which it has been developed into an experienced socialist ruling party and a dignified revolutionary party supported by the people.

There are a lot of political parties in the world. Of them, only the WPK, based on an invincible unity in ideology and will, has been struggling devotedly for the victorious progress of the cause of socialism and independence for humankind.

There is no party in the world that is highlighted with the idea and august names of its founder and leaders.

The party of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il: herein lies the revolutionary essence of the WPK and its eternal dignity and glory.

The glorious revolutionary history of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il is recorded with the most seasoned and sagacious leadership to the party building.

A revolutionary party with system of the leader’s idea and leadership, a motherly party that has formed an integral whole with the people and serves them, an invincible party with steel-like discipline and might: these are the prestigious feature of the WPK strengthened under the meticulous care of the preceding leaders.

Now it is demonstrating its might as a party of the leader, thanks to the supreme leader Kim Jong Un, another great person born of heaven.

South Koreans and world’s progressive people are loud in praises of the immortal exploits of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il who have developed the WPK into an invincible revolutionary party with the excellent idea and rare leadership.

The south Korean people have a great reverence and affection for the peerless great men who have built up the WPK as a powerful vanguard in carving out the nation’s destiny independently.

Now the imperialist and reactionaries have made desperate efforts to stifle and isolate north Korean socialism, however, it is making its steady progress. It is thanks to the guidance of experienced and single-heartedly united WPK. The WPK will be impregnable no matter how much water may flow under the bridge, they noted.

With the approach of October 10, the world’s progressive people hold the colorful events such as celebration meeting, photo exhibition, film show and forum to introduce the works and immortal achievements of the great leaders. Newspapers, broadcast and internet homepages make special mention of the WPK.

Through their statements, the progressive parties, organizations and figures of various circles in many countries admire that the WPK, which has been developed under the wise leadership of the great leaders, is a powerful political organization leading the Korean people to victory. There are no parties in the world such as the WPK unrivalled in the sense of organization and unity.

As admired by them, the ever-victorious WPK will always be the party of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il and only victory and glory will be in store for it, as the Korean people venerate supreme leader Kim Jong Un at high esteem.
