Report of KFA Scotland Meeting 03.08.2019

                                               

The Scotland branch of the UK Korean Friendship Association held its second meeting on Saturday August 3rd in Glasgow, commencing at 14:30. The premises are council owned and it was the general opinion of the meeting that, although not as centrally located as the previous meeting, it was better in terms of disabled access and value for money.
A message of support from UK KFA chair Dr Dermot Hudson was read out and then a brief outline of recent developments in DPRK-US relations was given by Scotland zone delegate Mitchell Wells.
Grant McPhillips (Scotland organisation officer) then gave an in depth presentation on the early life of Kim Il Sung, his role in the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle and also about his family, especially his parents and grandparents who were steeped in revolutionary struggles to free Korea in the 19th and early 20th century. A discussion on this period in Korean history followed.
It was planned to show the classic DPRK movie "Traffic Controller at the Crossroads" but a technical problem involving the subtitles meant that we had to abandon this idea. Hopefully this movie can be shown at a future meeting.
There followed a discussion on ideas for future events and promoting the work and message of KFA to a wider audience. It was decided that we should have a presence by way of a stall in Edinburgh city centre (and possibly Glasgow) on a Saturday in the near future. This could involve merchandise and literature for sale and leaflets being distributed (eg the KFA myth busters leaflet). It was also agreed that the next branch meeting should be held on a weekday (in the early evening) as this was more likely to attract a larger attendance. It was also suggested that we should build links with other anti-imperialist and progressive solidarity groups such as Palestine Solidarity Campaign, Cuba Solidarity Campaign etc, although it was noted there was a certain amount of sectarianism amongst some left and progressive organisations with regards to the KFA and the whole idea of supporting Socialist Korea.
One comrade suggested that we should go on the offensive by heavily pushing the message that the media lies to us about Syria, lies to us about Venezuela etc and therefore anything they tell us about the DPRK is bound to be a lie.
Literature was on display for perusal and sale.

The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK (ASSPUK) , the Juche Idea Study Group of England(JISGE), the UK Korean Friendship Association (UK KFA ) ,and the British Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification on the Korean Peninsula (BSCPRKP) issued the following joint statement  support the spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea(DPRK) issued on Friday 2nd of August :
  We are appalled that the British government  decided to join hands with France and Germany and call a closed session of the UN Security Council(UNSC) in order to condemn the DPRK for merely testing missiles which are a legitimate self-defensive activity recognised by international law and paint the weapons modernization of the DPRK as being a violation of 'UN resolutions ".
  As a matter of fact the recent missile tests carried out in the DPRK were not actually tests of Inter-Continental Ballistic Missiles  therefore , no agreement was broken . Such missile tests should not concern or bother anyone. There is no need for Britain or France or Germany  to get involved  in the matter.
  As the spokesperson for the DPRK Foreign Ministry points out " The DPRK has never recognized UNSC "resolutions" against it and will not recognize them in the future, too as they were illegally fabricated by the UN to its taste...It is an insult, disregard and grave provocation against the DPRK to cook up such "resolutions" that the relevant party does not recognize and to say this or that over a matter related with the sovereignty of a sovereign state"
  Thus the DPRK cannot be held accountable by the UNSC or anyone else for resolutions that it rejected in the first place and are actually illegal resolutions .
  The UNSC , Britain , Germany ,France and others have no right to take issue with self-defensive missile tests of the DPRK
  All the recent UNSC meeting and statement will achieve is to increase tension and put a brake on the peace process on the Korean peninsula.
  As to the reactionary (and unelected) British government we would have thought that it would have more pressing issues to concentrate on rather than trying to interfere in the affairs of the DPRK. It needs to mind its own business.
   We fully support the statement of the spokesperson of the DPRK Foreign Ministry and totally condemn the UNSC and those behind it for their unwarranted interference in the affairs of the DPRK.

The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK (ASSPUK) , the Juche Idea Study Group of England(JISGE), the UK Korean Friendship Association (UK KFA ) ,and the British Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification on the Korean Peninsula (BSCPRKP) issued the following joint statement on the occasion of the 74th anniversary of the liberation of Korea from Japanese imperialism  on the 15th of August;
                                             

  On the  15th of August 1945  74 years ago, Korea was liberated from the grim and oppressive fascist rule of Japanese imperialism, thanks to the 20 year long armed struggle conducted under the leadership of the great leader general KIM IL SUNG the sun of the Korean nation , ever-victorious iron willed brilliant commander and gifted military strategist. The anti-Japanese People's Guerrilla Army led by the great leader comrade KIM IL SUNG had neither a state base or rear to rely on.The armed struggle of the anti-Japanese guerrilla was a self-reliant one that embodied the Juche Idea and the Songun Idea. The great leader general KIM IL SUNG cast aside the flunkeyist idea of relying on big powers for salvation and instead conducted an independent struggle,based on Juche , against Japanese imperialism fully relying on the masses of people.  
                             

                   
    The anti-Japanese armed struggle fully proved in practice the truth of Songun that independence is achieved by the force of arms. During the anti-Japanese armed struggle the great leader generalissimo KIM IL SUNG adhering firmly to the line of Songun rejected illusions of the national  reformists and opportunists that independence could be achieved by peaceful means or by begging for it
     The Juche-orientated guerrilla tactics of the great leader President KIM IL SUNG and the indomitable struggle of the Anti-Japanese People's Guerrilla Army (later the Korean People's Revolutionary Army ) tore the guts out of Japanese imperialism, defeating the million strong Kwangtung army of Japanese imperialism. The barbaric Japanese imperialist invaders were expelled from the land of Korea at last.                
    The defeat of Japanese imperialism, one of the main forces and shock brigade of international fascism , by the partisans of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army led by the great leader  general KIM IL SUNG made a great contribution to the victory of worldwide anti-fascist forces .
   The victorious liberation struggle of the Korean people led by  general KIM IL SUNG , a gifted military strategist and ever-victorious iron-willed brilliant commander was an inspiration for the peoples of the colonial countries fighting for their independence and liberation .The 1968 World Cultural Congress in Havana adopted a document praising the anti-Japanese armed struggle waged under the leadership of the great leader comrade KIM IL SUNG.
    With the victory of the Korean People's Revolutionary Army , commanded by the great leader generalissimo KIM IL SUNG ,in August 1945 the Korean people finally gained their emancipation from the cruel shackles of Japanese colonialism and greeted a new life of independence , a life of hope for the future.
  After liberation under the leadership of the great leader President KIM IL SUNG the people of Korea built a new thriving  country of independence, a country which in the words of even enemies has "undiluted sovereignty " .Under the banner of self-reliance the Korean people are further consolidating the independence of the country and building a fine and might independent power of Juche.
  Today the Korean people under the wise leadership of dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN ,who follows in the footsteps of the great generalissimo's of Mt Paektu , President KIM IL SUNG and Chairman KIM JONG IL, are now consolidating the gains of liberation under the banner of Juche ,self-reliance and self-development                      .

Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un Guides Again Test-Fire of New-type Large-caliber Multiple Launch Guided Rocket System

Pyongyang, August 3 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea, chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK, guided again the test-fire of newly-developed large-caliber multiple launch guided rocket system early in the Friday morning.

The test-fire was aimed to examine the altitude control flight performance, track control capability and rate of hits of the large-caliber multiple launch guided ordnance rocket.

Together with Supreme Leader of the Party, state and armed forces of the DPRK Kim Jong Un, senior officials of the Party Central Committee including Ri Pyong Chol, Yu Jin, Kim Jong Sik and leading officials of the field of national defence science including Jang Chang Ha and Jon Il Ho guided the test-fire.

At the fire position Kim Jong Un measured the time of combat deployment of gun carriage and learned in detail about the operation mode of the large-caliber multiple launch guided rocket system before guiding the test-fire at the observation post.

The test-fire satisfactorily confirmed the altitude control level flight performance, track changing capability, accuracy of hitting a target and warhead explosion power of the guided ordnance rocket.

The Supreme Leader expressed great satisfaction over the result of the test-fire, saying that another Juche-oriented weapon planned and so desired by the Party has been made. He highly appreciated the efforts of leading officials, scientists, technicians and workers in the field of national defense science. -0-

Spokesperson for DPRK Foreign Ministry Blames UNSC Closed-Door Meeting

Pyongyang, August 2 (KCNA) -- A spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea Friday issued the following statement:

On Thursday the United Nations Security Council, instigated by Britain, France and Germany, held a closed-door meeting at which it termed the DPRK's measures for arms modernization the "violation of resolutions".

The DPRK has never recognized UNSC "resolutions" against it and will not recognize them in the future, too as they were illegally fabricated by the UN to its taste.

It is an insult, disregard and grave provocation against the DPRK to cook up such "resolutions" that the relevant party does not recognize and to say this or that over a matter related with the sovereignty of a sovereign state.

Any projectile has a curved trajectory, not straight one owing to earth gravity.

But the UNSC took issue with the DPRK over the firing based on ballistic technology, not the range of the projectile, which means that the DPRK should give up its right to self-defence.

The DPRK has not concluded with any country an agreement on limitation of the range of missile and other projectiles and is not bound by any relevant international law.

The DPRK's decision to suspend nuclear test and test-fire of ICBM is an expression of goodwill and consideration for dialogue partner. It is by no means part of acts to recognize and abide by the absurd UNSC "resolutions" against the DPRK.

Considerate of the universal expectations of the international community for peace and stability of the Korean peninsula, the DPRK has shown maximum patience of suspending nuclear test and ICBM test-fire for more than twenty months.

However, the UNSC is getting on the nerves of the DPRK by groundlessly slandering its conventional weaponry development while turning blind eyes to the war exercises in south Korea and shipment of cutting-edge attack weapons into it.

This makes us run out of patience and feel angry with the UN.

What's more ridiculous is that Britain, France and Germany were so meddlesome as to convene a meeting against the DPRK and issue a "joint statement".

We will never allow anyone to try to flout the sovereignty of the DPRK and its right to self-defence, but will settle accounts with them.

Those countries that took the lead in convening the UNSC closed-door meeting should properly reflect on their reckless behavior of poking their nose into other's internal affairs.

Britain, France and Germany should realize before it is too late that their recent stupid words and deeds would act as a catalyst for worsening the situation of the Korean peninsula, far from easing tensions.

They should no longer make themselves the laughing stock by hosting such a meeting. -0-

Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un Guides Test-Fire of New-type Large-caliber Multiple Launch Guided Rocket System

Pyongyang, August 1 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, chairman of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK), chairman of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK, guided a test-fire of newly-developed large-caliber multiple launch guided rocket system on July 31.

He was accompanied by Jo Yong Won, Ri Pyong Chol, Yu Jin, Kim Jong Sik and Pak Jong Chon.

He was greeted on the spot by Jang Chang Ha, Jon Il Ho and other senior officials in the field of national defense science.

The officials, scientists and technicians were filled with great pride and excitement for having developed and making the first test-fire of the new-type guided ordnance rocket, which will play a main role in ground military operations, in a short span of time according to the strategic policy of artillery modernization for the building of armed forces set forth at the Seventh Congress of the WPK.

Being briefed on the system, Kim Jong Un, Supreme Leader of the Party, state and armed forces of the DPRK, learnt in detail about its development.

The test-fire took place in his presence.

The test-fire scientifically confirmed that the tactical data and technical characteristics of the new-type large-caliber guided ordnance rocket reached the numerical values of its design, and verified the combat effectiveness of the overall system.

After learning about the result of the test-fire, he said that it is very great and it would be an inescapable distress to the forces becoming a fat target of the weapon.

He repeatedly expressed satisfaction over the result of the test-fire and highly appreciated the feats of the working class in the fields of national defense science and munitions industry who has made another wonderful Korean-style multiple launch rocket system of great strategic significance conducive to considerably boosting the combat capability of the People's Army. -0-
