DPRK Foreign Ministry Spokesman Slams U.S.-S. Korea-Japan Confab

  Pyongyang, July 17 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Institute for American Studies of the Foreign Ministry of the DPRK gave the following answer to the question raised by KCNA Sunday as regards the vice foreign ministers confab recently held by the U.S., Japan and south Korea in Hawaii.
    As known, the U.S. is recently driving the situation on the Korean peninsula and in the region to the brink of a war by bringing nuclear submarines, strategic bombers and other nuclear strike means one after another to the vicinity of the peninsula.
    Against this backdrop, the U.S. hosted what it called the fourth tripartite consultation with vice foreign ministers of Japan and south Korea in Hawaii on July 14.
    At the confab the U.S. reaffirmed its commitment to steadily taking steps necessary for security of its allies, talking about "threat" from the DPRK, a stereotyped assertion.
    It is not accidental that the confab was held in the place where a missile alert drill of the U.S., Japan and south Korea was staged shortly ago.
    It is the long-cherished ambition of the U.S. to hold the military hegemony in the region by building a MD system on the Korean peninsula and in the region and knocking into shape the triangular military alliance.
    The U.S. scenario to establish the MD system and the triangular military alliance are very risky as it will upset the regional strategic balance and build the structure of a new Cold War, which may lead to a nuclear war on the Korean peninsula and in the region.
    The U.S., which provided a foundation for establishing the MD system through a decision to deploy THAAD in south Korea, is going to buckle down to forging the triangular military alliance by tightening its control over its lackeys.
    Openly revealed at the confab is the U.S. scenario to realize the wild ambition for seizing military hegemony in the region and the rest of the world at any cost.
    The world should pay due attention to the situation on the Korean peninsula and in Northeast Asia where the structure of a fresh Cold War is being created and the danger of a nuclear war is looming owing to the U.S. and its servants' conspiracy.
    As already clarified, the DPRK will steadily take steps for bolstering up its self-defensive nuclear deterrent and carry out them on a higher level both in quality and quantity in order to completely remove the danger of a nuclear war on the Korean peninsula and in other parts of Northeast Asia and the rest of the world. -0-
