The Bank of the River Taedong in Pyongyang Gets More Beautiful Day by Day

  The River Taedong is one of the famous rivers in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. It is 450.3 kilometres long. It rises in Mt. Rangnim in Taehung County of South Phyongan Province into the West Sea of Korea.

  Stemming from the river, Taedonggang Culture, one of the world's five cultures, was created. The area of the River Taedong was a very good place of human inhabitation with beautiful scenery.

  The River Taedong flows through the capital city of Pyongyang curving around the bends of mountains such as Moran, Mansu and Mangyong Hills. The scenery of the banks of the river with clear water is very beautiful.

  The scenery on the bank of the River Taedong gets beautiful all the more along with the new monumental structures, modern apartment houses and pleasure grounds built around it day by day.

KCNA Report on Fulfillment of January National Economic Plan

Pyongyang, February 3 (KCNA) -- The Korean Central News Agency on Friday released a report on the over-fulfillment of the January national economic plan in the DPRK for attaining the major goals for the new year.

According to the report, the first-month production goals for attaining the major targets of the national economic development were successfully achieved thanks to the concerted efforts and strong working spirit of the members of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and other working people who turned out in the new year's struggle in response to the call of the Party Central Committee.

In order to carry forward the glory of 2023 more brilliantly to 2024, the Party Central Committee unfolded another gigantic blueprint to steadily elevate the phase of overall development of Korean-style socialism.

An all-people general advance was vigorously started under the wise guidance of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who kindled the flame of regional industrial revolution to be specially recorded in the history of the WPK and made sure that steady efforts are directed to the attainment of major goals for ensuring the growth of the overall economy while consolidating the successes of 2023.

Officials of the Cabinet and economic guidance organs have intensified the operations and guidance so that the national economic plans are carried out without fail daily and every ten days, putting the stress of their work on strengthening the ability to command and guide the overall state economic work in every way.

The workers in metal and chemical industries gave vent to their patriotic enthusiasm for glorifying this year with fresh and significant successes.

The January plan for rolled steel production throughout the country was carried out at 130 percent and the nitrogenous fertilizer production plan at 102 percent.

The strong will of electricity producers to toughly keep the life-line of the country was witnessed at every power station.

The nationwide coal production plan for January was over-fulfilled at 109 percent.

The workers in the machine-building industry have also increased production.

The January plan for the production of nonferrous metals was carried out at 105 percent and the timber-production plan at 106 percent.

Officials and workers in the sector of railway transport carried out the freight-transport plan for January by 103 percent throughout the country.

A vigorous campaign for creating new construction speed and myth was conducted at grand construction sites, including the housing construction in the capital city, and rapid progress was made in the rural housing construction across the country.

Amid a dynamic drive for increased production by the workers in the sector of building-materials industry, the January cement-production plan was fulfilled by 105 percent throughout the country.

The agricultural sector has elevated the fighting spirit of last year with high enthusiasm.

Public atmosphere and tendency of supporting the countryside were further enhanced across the country.

Workers in the light industry, too, carried out their cloth-production plan for January.

Officials and fishermen in the fishing sector made signal progress in fishing by concentrating all means and facilities on fishing and applying rational fishing methods.

The fulfillment of January production plans in major economic sectors provided a springboard for achieving a greater victory this year, the report stressed. -0-

Japan's Deployment of Long-range Missiles Is Suicidal Act: DPRK Foreign Ministry Researcher

Pyongyang, February 3 (KCNA) -- Kim Sol Hwa, a researcher of the Institute for Japan Studies under the DPRK Foreign Ministry, issued the following article "A suicidal act of jumping into fire with brushwood":

Japan's accelerated deployment of long-range missiles provokes the vigilance of the international community nowadays.

For typical examples, Japan secured the approval from the U.S. for the sale of 50 air-to-surface missiles for F-15 fighters in August last year and recently signed a contract with the U.S. to purchase Tomahawk long-range cruise missiles.

Japan is going to spend 169.4 billion yen to import 400 U.S.-made Tomahawk long-range cruise missiles and necessary equipment from 2025.

It seeks to purchase Norway-made cruise missiles for F-35A stealth fighters in 2026 or thereabouts. It also buckled down to extending the range of type 12 surface-to-ship guided missiles of the Ground "Self-Defense Force" from about 200 km at present to over 1 000 km and developing high-speed gliding projectiles and 3 000 km-range supersonic guided missiles as part of its efforts for starting the deployment of home-made long-range missiles next year, in particular.

All facts go to prove that Japan, which revised three security-related documents, including the "national security strategy," at the end of 2022 under the pretext of "neighborly threats" to formulate the possession of "counterattack capability", is working hard to realize it at any cost through the deployment of long-range missiles.

Japan plans to allocate 734 billion yen, which is nearly one tenth of the biggest-ever 2024 defense budget running up to 7.9496 trillion yen, for the purchase and development of long-range missiles. This clearly shows that Japan is desperately resorting to the possession of the capability for preemptive attack.

Japan often spreads the "rumor about neighborly threats." This is nothing but an artifice to accelerate the deployment of long-range missiles at any cost under that excuse and thus secure the capability for carrying out preemptive attacks at the depths of neighboring countries.

Far from making apologies and reparations for having inflicted untold calamities upon our country and other Asian nations in the last century, Japanese politicians openly and regularly visit the Yasukuni Shrine haunted by the specter of militarism. Japan's pursuance of the capability for preemptive attack against this backdrop clearly proves that it remains utterly unchanged in its wild ambition for launching reinvasion.

What can never be overlooked is the fact that Japan's dangerous moves for turning itself into a military giant are pursuant to the U.S. scenario for implementing its hegemonic strategy to make its vassal countries in the Asia-Pacific region stooges for proxy wars against the DPRK, China and Russia.

Japan, which is banned from possessing combat capabilities as a war criminal nation bereft of its right to belligerency and participation in war, and the U.S. that unhesitatingly freed that vassal nation from the said shackles in a bid to carry out its hegemonic strategy, have neither qualification nor justification to find fault with the just and legitimate measures of our state for bolstering self-defensive capabilities.

Japan even discarded its spurious veil of "pacific nation" and is getting hell-bent on securing long-range missiles targeting the neighboring countries, buoyed up by the U.S. zealous patronage and support. It has now emerged as the worst threat-posing country in the region.

Japan should be mindful that it will become a common target of the righteous regional community for its dogged efforts for realizing the old dream of "Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere" while zealously following the U.S. gripped by anachronistic ambition for hegemony and expansionist fantasy.

Japan's deployment of long-range missiles is just a suicidal act of jumping into fire with brushwood on its back. -0-

MA Spokesman on Cruise Missile Super-large Warhead Power Test and New-type Anti-aircraft Missile Test-fire

Pyongyang, February 3 (KCNA) -- The DPRK Missile Administration (MA) conducted a cruise missile super-large warhead power test and a new-type anti-aircraft missile test-fire in the West Sea of Korea on February 2.

The tests are a part of the normal activities of the administration and its affiliated defence science institutes for the rapid development of the technologies in various aspects such as function, performance and operation of new-type weapon systems and had nothing to do with the regional situation.

The tests had no adverse effect on the security of a neighboring country. -0-

 The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK(ASSPUK), the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea (BGSJI) andthe  Korean Friendship Association( KFA UK) issued the following joint statement on the occasion of the 76h anniversary of the foundation of the regular revolutionary armed forces of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, the Korean People's Army on the 8th of February :
  

The great leader President Kim Il Sung took the momentous decision 76 years ago on the 8th of February 1948 to transform the guerrilla-based Korean People's Revolutionary Army into a regular and standing armed force the Korean People's Army.

For 76 years the KPA has stood guard over the socialist gains of People's Korea and defends the sovereignty of the DPRK. It is totally different to armies in imperialist and capitalist countries.
   The KPA is the unique Juche-based and Songun-based revolutionary armed force of the Korean people. It is an army of the people, an army of the revolution and an army of the working class and the Workers' Party of Korea.
 The great leader President Kim Il Sung, an ever-victorious iron-willed brilliant commander and gifted military strategist, put forward the line of building the army after the liberation of Korea and developed the Korean People's Revolutionary Army into the Korean People's Army, modern regular armed forces, performing the undying feats in the history of the building of the revolutionary armed forces.
                                                          

    With the foundation of the KPA, the Korean people came to have their own independent defence force safeguarding their independence.  Under the command of the great generals of Mt Paektu, President Kim Il Sung and generalissimo Kim Jong Il the KPA traversed the road of glory and victory. In the 1950s the KPA beat back the U.S. imperialists' invasion to swallow up the DPRK in its cradle and demonstrated the dignity and honour of the DPRK and Korean people during the Fatherland Liberation War.  Throughout the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s the regular revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK defended the gains of socialism and the independence of the  DPRK, inflicting defeats on the imperialists.

U.S. Reckless Act of Increasing Danger of Nuclear War

Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- Ri Ji Song, a researcher of the Society for International Politics Study in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, released an article "Reckless moves increasing the danger of a nuclear war".

Its full text is as follows:

The fact that the U.S. will deploy again its nuclear weapons, which it withdrew from Britain 15 years ago, has been opened to public, sparking off worldwide sensation.

The U.S. and Britain take a vague stand on the planned redeployment of nuclear weapons, asserting that it is their long-standing policy to neither confirm nor deny the existence of nuclear weapons at a specified military base. However, media and experts are making the U.S. redeployment of nuclear weapons a fait accompli, in connection with the fact that high-ranking figures of Britain and NATO have recently called for coping with a potential war with Russia.

In actuality, the facility expansion and reinforcement work have already started at the Lakenheath Air Force Base in the UK, where the U.S. nuclear bombs of B61 series were stocked in the past and F-35 fighters capable of carrying the B61-12 are deployed. And a spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Defense has reportedly recognized the fact.

In this regard, the international community is expressing serious concern that the U.S. moves for bolstering up nuclear force in the European region will further chill the relations between the West and Russia and increase the danger of a nuclear war in the region.

The U.S. nuclear arms buildup in Europe has not started today.

The U.S. worked out a plan to replace the outdated B61 nuclear bombs deployed in Europe with the latest version B61-12 at least 10 years ago, and spent more than 10 billion U.S. dollars on this project.

Pentagon conducted ground test and simulated flight test already in 2013 and air dropping tests by F-15, F-16, F-35 and other types of fighters from 2015. And it announced that they would start of the serial production of those bombs in the fiscal 2021 and complete their deployment for action by 2024.

In November last year, the U.S. officially approved the use of B61-12 in military operations and included Britain in its list of nuclear weapons storage sites. And the U.S. deputy secretary of Defense made a tour of the Lakenheath Air Force Base to learn about its infrastructure facilities, revealing their scheme to redeploy nuclear weapons in the UK.

The U.S. is going to redeploy its nuclear weapons 15 years after it had to withdraw them, modernized and maintained for more than 50 years, because of the anti-war and anti-nuclear atmosphere in the UK in 2008. This poses a serious threat to international peace and security.

It is the sinister intention of the U.S. to establish a global deployment network of nukes, regarding them as a means for maintaining its hegemony, and thus contain its "rivals" and, at the same time, hold more tightly the lifeline of its allies under the pretext of "bolstering up its deterrence".

What is more dangerous is the fact that the U.S. is mulling deploying the tactical nuclear weapons including B61-12 in the Asia-Pacific region, too.

It is well evidenced by the fact that the U.S. and the ROK are frequently making reckless remarks that as B-2 stealth nuclear strategic bombers capable of carrying and operating B61-12 have been deployed on Guam, it can be used for any future operation in the Korean peninsula.

These moves are turning the Asia-Pacific region, where the world's nuclear weapons states are aggregate densely, into the world's biggest hotspot with constant danger of a nuclear war outbreak.

The U.S. expands the sphere of deployment of the latest nuclear bombs at a time when military confrontation among countries and forces is escalating and the international situation is getting ever-more acute in different parts of the world. This more clearly shows the U.S. true colors as the chief criminal of nuclear proliferation, mastermind of nuclear arms race and chieftain of nuclear war outbreak.

All the facts go to prove that the DPRK's efforts for bolstering up the nuclear war deterrence are an indispensable contribution to resolutely frustrating the U.S. and its allies' undisguised provocations on a worldwide scale and maintaining the strategic balance and stability of the world.

The international community should heighten vigilance against the U.S. criminal moves for deploying its nuclear weapons in other countries and more bitterly condemn them as they are driving the whole world closer into the threshold of a nuclear war. -0-

Respected Comrade Kim Jong Un Gives Field Guidance to Nampho Dockyard

Pyongyang, February 2 (KCNA) -- Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, gave field guidance to the Nampho Dockyard.

Accompanying him were Jo Yong Won, Ri Il Hwan, Jo Chun Ryong, Pak Jong Chon, Jon Hyon Chol, O Su Yong and Kim Jong Sik, senior officials of the WPK Central Committee, and Admiral Kim Myong Sik, commander of the Navy of the Korean People's Army.

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was greeted by leading officials of the dockyard on the spot.

Making rounds of various production processes and shipbuilding site, he learned in detail about the overall situation of the dockyard and its technical equipment level.

The proud course of its development is deeply associated with the immortal leadership exploits of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il, he said, noting that the dockyard has built many warships, large cargo ships, dredgers, fishing boats and other vessels over the past years, thus making a great contribution to defending the maritime sovereignty of the country and developing its maritime transport and fishing industry.

He stressed that the precious history and tradition of the dockyard, which has grown into a leading shipbuilding base in the long practical struggle for implementing the Party's policies on munitions industry and shipbuilding industry, should be invariably carried forward.

Saying that the dockyard is charged with a very important task in developing the country's shipbuilding industry and strengthening its naval force, he set forth the revolutionary policy of struggle for the dockyard to usher in a new era of the shipbuilding industry.

The strengthening of the naval force presents itself as the most important issue in reliably defending the maritime sovereignty of the country and stepping up the war preparations at present, he said, adding that this situation requires the shipbuilding industrial sector to achieve a fresh rapid development and consolidate its material and technical foundation. To modernize the shipbuilding industry of the country as required by the new century is an important guarantee and precondition for implementing our Party's line on building the national defence and economy, he stressed.

He said that the Nampho dockyard, which is a reliable large-scale military shipbuilding base of the country and is proud of the admirable history of self-reliance, should naturally become a model and play a traction role in implementing the new policy of the Party for the epochal development of the shipbuilding industry.

He urged the dockyard to actively step up the modernization of the shipbuilding process, direct steady efforts to establishing cultured ways in production and life as required by the developing reality and constantly improve the material and cultural living conditions of its employees.

He was reported in detail on the building of various warships and the preparations for a new huge plan decided and assigned by the 8th WPK Congress.

Acquainting himself with the present situations such as the issues of building technology, design, capacity buildup and supply of materials and products under contract and settling the knotty problems, he gave an instruction on pushing ahead with the planned building of ships and unconditionally completing them within the period of the Five-Year Plan.

He set forth the orientation for further strengthening the material and technical foundation of the dockyard in keeping with the important requirement for dynamically promoting the prospective development of the shipbuilding industry, and took important measures.

He earnestly reiterated that the Party members and workers at the dockyard, who have a brilliant tradition of remaining true to the Party's defense and economic policies by fully displaying the steadfast spirit of devoted implementation and the fighting spirit of self-reliance in every annals of the revolution, should take the lead in successfully and thoroughly carrying into practice the plan of the Party determined to usher in a new heyday of bolstering up the Juche-based naval force.

And he expressed expectation that the workers of the dockyard would successfully build on the world level the major warships, desired and decided by the WPK, by redoubling their considerable ability and tenacious executive faculty with the boundless loyalty to the Party and the revolution and with patriotism.
