Recently a syndicated article "Did North Korea just hack your hospital" written by one 'Stephanie Stacey ' appeared in a number of publications such as ' Tech Monitor ' and the supposedly 'left wing ' New Statesman ' , in reality the New Statesman is owned by a billionaire called Mike Danson who has been described as a "Secretive data mogul ' .
The article falsely accuses the DPRK of "hacking NHS hosptials " but the only evidence for this cited is a " a cybersecurity advisory released by the US government" . So the evidence for the assertion has come from the chief adversary and enemy of the DPRK , the US ! . No independent or verifiable evidence of DPRK hacking has ever been provided.
Back in 2017 the DPRK explicitly refuted allegations that it hacked NHS hospitals pointing out that "In that regard, we made it very clear that the DPRK had no connection at all with acts of cybercrime and officially informed the UK authorities that unilateral accusation against the DPRK without any clear evidence would be considered as an act of conspiracy to defame the DPRK" and that "It does not make any sense that the DPRK which gives the highest priority to the life and health of its people would carry out a cyber-attack on the UK health service."
Indeed the DPRK has no motive for hacking to extort money. The sanctions do not affect the DPRK because it is self-reliant .
The story in the New Stateman and elsewhere is the product of a deliberate smear campaign by the US imperialists and the CIA
