Laws for Public Benefit

 

Over the past five years the DPRK has enacted, amended or supplemented many laws, most of them geared to improving people’s welfare and living standards.

A typical example is the Law of the DPRK on Childcare adopted in February 2022.

According to the law, the state shall regularly provide all the children across the country with nutritious foods including dairy products at its expense. The law specifies in detail the issues related to nursing and upbringing of children, ranging from ensuring the quality of raw materials for milk powder production and standardizing milk products to providing nurseries and kindergartens with furnishings and drinking water. The regular supply of dairy products to children at state expense is not an easy task, but surprisingly enough, this undertaking is legally guaranteed in this country.

Reportedly, the country has recently built goat and dairy cow farms or expanded their capacity, with the result that the output of raw milk has increased more than 1.4 times in the past few years. With the level of milk processing steadily improving, tasty and nutritious dairy products are supplied every day to all the children throughout the country.

Another example is the Law of the DPRK on House Maintenance adopted in October 2023.

According to the law, dwelling houses shall be preferentially allocated to war veterans, discharged officers, teachers, scientists, meritorious persons, and families with several children including those with triplets, while working people in labour-consuming sectors such as coal and ore miners, smelters and pelagic fishermen shall be provided with houses with ample conditions for rest. And the families displaced by natural disasters or state measures shall be compulsorily given houses.

More surprising and unbelievable is that all the houses are allocated free of charge. In fact, modern dwelling houses for over 100 000 households have been built for the past five years in the capital city of Pyongyang and rural communities in different parts of the country to be given to the working people for nothing.

Among other newly-enacted, amended or supplemented laws are the law on social insurance and social security, the law on providing discharged officers with proper living conditions, the law on medical service, and the law on the provision of cement to cities and counties for their construction. These laws enable the Korean people to be provided with environment and conditions for a stable and happy life. This is what’s now happening in the DPRK.

Report of the KFA UK Film Night 29.12.2025’

The Korea Friendship Association of the UK (KFA UK) held its 33rd film night which was the final film night of 2025 at 1900 hours on the 29th of December . Participating were members and officials of KFA UK from London and elsewhere in the UK  as well as guests from KFA Andalusia (Spain ), KFA Germany , the People’s Korea Initiative of Poland as well as guests from the Netherlands and other countries.

The film  “Wish “ was shown  .This film was produced in 2011 and was screened at  the 2012  Pyongyang Film Festival . The centres on the lives of a couple with a young child and their neighbours and friends . The father of the family is working away from home , he is a soldier who is one of the builders of the new Huichon Hydro Electric Power Plant , a key construction project which will benefit the country greatly . The wish of this soldier is to have his picture taken with Generalissimo KIM JONG IL . Naturally his wife and son miss him greatly . He is given leave to go back to see his family but this causes him to miss the opportunity to have his picture taken with Generalissimo KIM JONG IL . This causes his wife to be full of remorse .

However the film has a happy ending because the soldier -builder is able to have his picture taken with Generalissimo KIM JONG IL .

The film features the popular DPRK song “Tansume “ or “Without A Break “  .

Illustrious Commander Ushers in Golden Age in Strengthening Revolutionary Armed Forces

Pyongyang, December 30 (KCNA) -- On December 30, 2011, the Workers' Party of Korea and the people of the DPRK held in high esteem the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un as the supreme commander of the armed forces of the DPRK.

Along with this significant day, the nature and character of the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK have been firmly preserved, a decisive guarantee has been provided for carrying forward the ever-victorious history and traditions and the DPRK has been able to demonstrate its dignity and might as the strongest military power.

Kim Jong Un has developed the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK into the elite ranks with his faith that the military muscle precisely means the national power and that the prosperity of the country and happiness of the people lie in bolstering up the military muscle in every way.

The ideas and theories on army building advanced by Kim Jong Un including the idea of thoroughly establishing the Party’s monolithic command system across the entire army and invariably preserving the revolutionary nature of the people’s army served as the important guidelines for ushering in a golden age in strengthening the military muscle.

Kim Jong Un convened grand meetings of the entire army and led them to be a milestone in further strengthening the might of the revolutionary armed forces of the DPRK. He has made field inspections to train the People's Army into a matchless army.

He inspected the biggest hotspot on a small wooden boat, saying that he should go to any place where soldiers serve, however dangerous it may be.

Thanks to the energetic leadership of Kim Jong Un, who stressed the soldiers' mission, duty and feats at training grounds and trenches and led soldiers to spend their days of service with training, the People's Army could be prepared as a-match-for-a-hundred revolutionary army.

Shortly ago, Kim Jong Un guided the work to build a nuclear-powered strategic-guided missile submarine on the spot. Thanks to his devoted efforts for bolstering up the national defence capabilities, the DPRK could rapidly emerge as a strongest military power with the powerful national defence capabilities.

Watching with admiration the entities of the national defence capabilities at the military hardware exhibition Defence Development-2025, the people hardened their conviction that only victory is in store for the country as it is led by Kim Jong Un who is ushering in a golden age in bolstering up the revolutionary armed forces. -0-

14 years of guiding the revolutionary armed forces of Juche -special article by Dr Dermot Hudson

 

On the 30th of December 2011 the mantle of leadership of the revolutionary armed forces of Juche Korea passed to respected comrade KIM JONG UN when the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers Party of Korea appointed him as Supreme Commander of the Korean People’s Army .

One of first actions of respected comrade KIM JONG UN as Supreme Commander was to visit the historic Seoul Ryu Kyong Su No 105 Tank division of the Korean People’s Army , a unit steeped in revolutionary history for this was the unit which was first to rush into Seoul during the great victorious Fatherland Liberation War and it was here in August 1960 that comrade KIM JONG IL started his revolutionary leadership over the armed forces of Juche Korea.

Respected comrade KIM JONG UN put great effort and energy into building the revolutionary armed forces of People’s Korea into an invincible power that could fully safeguard the construction of socialism and provide security for the happy lives of the Korean people under the Juche-oriented socialist system . Respected comrade KIM JONG UN visited army units one after the other , even far flung ones and those on the frontline at Panmunjom, the place where socialism and imperialism confront each other at gunpoint .

It was respected comrade KIM JONG UN who put forward the Juche-based revolutionary line of building the economy and nuclear force in parallel . The DPRK became a socialist nuclear power of Juche and an ICBM power .The DPRK’s nuclear missiles  can reach the mainland of the USA.

Now the DPRK is building its own Nuclear-powered Strategic Guided Missile Submarine with a tonnage of 8,700 tonnes. This shows how powerful the DPRK has become . Under respected comrade KIM JONG UN the DPRK has become a world class military power and is able to sit down and negotiate as an equal with other countries .

Moreover under the leadership of respected comrade KIM JONG UN the KPA has been strengthened so much that it is able to give internationalist assistance to other countries and conduct overseas military operations in defence of anti-imperialism and independence .

I was able to attend in person the grand military parade in October, held to mark the 80th anniversary of the foundation of the Workers Party of Korea, this year and saw with my own eyes the great successes that had been made in building the KPA under the guidance of respected comrade KIM JONG UN .It was my first time to attend a DPRK military parade at night , previously I had only attended parades during the day time . This parade was not held under easy or ideal conditions but in the rain and wind . Other countries would not have been able to do this but People’s Korea , Korea of Juche was able to do this . The parade included the KPA fighters who had fought for the liberation of Kursk  and also new ICBMs . A friend from Italy said to me as the new ICBM rumbled past , “That is for Washington”.

The 14 years of respected comrade KIM JONG UN’s guidance over the revolutionary armed forces have been 14 years of victory and glory.

  December 30 this year marks the 14th anniversary of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un's appointment as Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

  Kim Jong Un accelerated the work for making the revolutionary armed forces most elite and powerful with his extraordinary military wisdom and energetic leadership, thus placing the dignity of the DPRK on the highest plane.

  One day in April 2012, he met officials and stressed the need to strengthen the military strength of the country in every way.

  That day, he said: We should never forget the lesson of bitter history of the past days when we lost our country because of our weak military force and had to face the miserable destiny of colonial slavery. It is the grim reality today that if a country has poor military power, it cannot defend its sovereignty and right to live and in the end, will become a plaything and victim of the imperialists. Accordingly, we must consistently hold fast to the work for strengthening our military force.

  At the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, Kim Jong Un underscored the need to prepare the People's Army thoroughly as a revolutionary army of the Party boundlessly loyal to its guidance and as an ideologically and technically strong army.

  On several occasions including the Fifth Conference of Training Officers of the Korean People's Army, he said that at wartime, soldiers who fight well are heroes, but in peacetime, those who train well are heroes and patriots, and underlined the need to bring about a revolutionary change in training so as to make the People's Army an invincible elite revolutionary army that wins all fights.

  Kim Jong Un made great efforts to strengthen the revolutionary armed forces into the most elite and powerful ones.

  He called on soldiers of an islet defence detachment through the sea route with raging waves though officials dissuaded him from doing so, saying there are his most beloved soldiers on Jangjae Islet and that he should visit all places where soldiers are although they are dangerous.

  When he visited the post at Panmunjom, the forefront of confrontation between friend and foe, he withdrew the soldiers on guard duty to have a photo taken with them, saying he would defend Panmunjom that day. Once, he also climbed up the Kkachilbong post on Mt. Osong which was only hundreds of metres away from the enemy position

  When he visited the powder-reeking training grounds and trenches, he gave unexpected situations to any units and sub-units at any time to learn about their preparedness for action, leading the soldiers to be invincible warriors.

  He called at the sites of test-firing strategic weapons for strengthening the national defence capacity time and again to encourage the defence scientists and technicians while giving them key of success.

  Dr. Ri Yong Chol, Section Chief of the Academy of Social Sciences, said Kim Jong Un left his noble traces in the field of national defence in 2024 as well, and continued:

  "The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited major munitions factories in succession, guided the test-fire of new weapons on the spot and participated in the ceremony of transferring and receiving new-type tactical ballistic missile system, dynamically leading the work for strengthening the national defence capacity. In this way, he strengthened the military power of the revolutionary armed forces in every way."

  It is the firm will of Kim Jong Un to constantly strengthen and develop the revolutionary armed forces into the ever-victorious, invincible revolutionary army for the prosperity of the country and the happiness of the generations to come.

On the 30th of December 2011 , the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers Party of Korea voted to appoint respected comrade KIM JONG UM as the Supreme Commander of the KPA .

The continuity of the Juche revolution was ensured and a great leap forward in the building of defence forces took place .

Thanks to leadership and guidance of respected comrade KIM JONG UN over the revolutionary armed forces People's Korea became a socialist nuclear power of Juche .

Inauguration Ceremony of Hospital and Regional-industry Factories in Ryonggang County Held with Splendor

Pyongyang, December 30 (KCNA) -- The second year's tasks for the gigantic regional development policy, decided and powerfully led by the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea to turn all cities and counties of the country into regional hubs of the socialist state in a balanced and simultaneous way, have been successfully carried out along with the inauguration of the hospital and regional-industry factories in Ryonggang County.

Under the WPK's grand policy on regional development, light-industry bases were wonderfully built in the twenty cities and counties this year, following last year, and modern hospitals, leisure complexes and offshore farms commissioned in several cities and counties.

This proud reality adding more pride to the era of great changes through epochal successes is a precious fruition of the noble people-first idea of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, who set it as a historic task to be boldly assumed and certainly implemented by our Party to provide all the people across the country with the happiest life and has pushed forward it through powerful leadership practice.

An inauguration ceremony of the hospital and regional-industry factories in Ryonggang County of Nampho Municipality was held with splendor on December 29, adding luster to the climax of the 2025 inauguration season.

Kim Jong Un, general secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the State Affairs of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, attended the ceremony.

All the participants extended their highest respect to Kim Jong Un, the great master of creation who is surely bringing about entities for prosperity on this land every year with his ardent love for the people.

Present at the inauguration ceremony were leading officials of the Party, government and armed forces organs and other members of the central leadership body of the Party, officials concerned, officials of Nampho Municipality and Ryonggang County, working people, soldier-builders and employees of the hospital and the regional-industry factories.

Ri Il Hwan, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, addressed the ceremony.

The speaker warmly congratulated the county people on receiving the modern hospital and light-industrial factories on the same day and at the same time in 2025, the first year of the public health revolution in the new era and the second year of implementing the Regional Development 20×10 Policy.

He extended warm thanks to the commanding officers and soldiers of the regional construction regiment of the 3rd Corps for having perfectly completed the projects for the regional construction policy as desired by the Party, true to the inherent duty of the Korean People's Army always faithful to the call of the country and the people.

The fruits of the efforts for transformation which have sprung up in all parts of the country, including its northern and southern ends and inland and coastal areas, are full of impressive stories telling people what the aim of our regional revolution is and where the strength of the nonstop advance lies in, he said, referring to the great painstaking efforts and devoted leadership of Kim Jong Un who dedicated himself to carrying out the construction plan broader and deeper than last year.

He stressed that our growing ideal and self-confidence and the dynamic progress of the regional revolution are the true picture of socialist Korea displayed by the seasoned and strong leadership of Kim Jong Un, who possesses the transparent revolutionary outlook that the Party policy is the will, demand and interests of the people and regards the ardent patriotic will and the absolute standard that the people leading a happy life means national power as the supreme principle of all his revolutionary activities.

True to the long-cherished desire of the Party Central Committee to make the regional people lead a happy life as soon as possible, we should simultaneously build more structures, including modern light-industrial factories, hospitals and leisure complexes, in 20 cities and counties next year than this year and should make greater progress and a leap forward in their qualitative aspect, he said, calling upon all the officials to regard Kim Jong Un's policy on regional construction, which they kept in mind again in this inauguration season, as absolute standard, and to fulfill their responsibility and duty in creation and construction for the promotion of the people's wellbeing.

Saying that our extraordinary will and our dynamic efforts would bring earlier the future of prosperity when all the people across the country lead a happy life, the speaker expressed the belief that such achievements as today's proud success demonstrating the truth of the Party's policy and the might of Korean-style socialism would be steadily made in the hopeful New Year 2026.

The participants cheered enthusiastically out of the absolute trust in and boundless reverence for Kim Jong Un who saw to it that assets of prosperity are built in their region and personally attended the significant inauguration ceremony at the end of the year, adding to the pleasure and happiness.

Lovely children presented him bunches of flowers in reflection of the unanimous gratitude of the people of Ryonggang County.

Kim Jong Un sincerely hoped that the county people who greeted the auspicious event of meaningful inauguration would lead a happy life on their land of bliss.

He met commanding officers of the construction unit that successfully built the Ryonggang County Hospital and regional-industry factories to highly appraise the loyalty to the Party and the country they displayed, and sent warm militant salute to all the soldier-builders.

Then he looked around the Ryonggang County Hospital.

He said that through the implementation of the expanded regional development policy such as building standard regional hospitals in Kangdong County, Kusong City and Ryonggang County this year, we have gone through another course for the victorious advance of the sacred cause aimed at bringing about practical change of the whole country and accumulated precious successes and experience for putting the regional construction on a definite development stage.

Making the hard-won precious creations serve as powerful engine for the development of socialist public health is a heavy and responsible revolution task whose fulfillment is as important as their construction, he said, clarifying important tasks for the operation and medical service of regional hospitals to be built in cities and counties across the country with this year as the starting point.

He said that all the medical workers of the county hospital should fulfill their exclusive duty of being responsible for the health of the citizens with high level of medical service and sincere devotion, mindful of the Party's intention of placing the lives and security of the people and promotion of their health above all else.

Noting that the inauguration of the Ryonggang County Hospital and regional-industry factories successfully concluded the construction of model hospitals and leisure complexes and regional-industry factories in 20 cities and counties planned for this year and opened up a new phase for further hastening the comprehensive development of socialist construction based on absolute support and patriotic zeal of the people, he said with pride that the year 2025 would be recorded as a historic year that proved more vividly the validity and vitality of the regional development policy through reality.

He expressed the firm belief that all the officers and men of the regional construction regiments at all levels of the large combined units of the KPA would more dynamically display the indomitable revolutionary spirit and creative mettle peculiar to our army, which remains absolutely loyal to the order of the Party and is dedicated to realizing the long-cherished desire of the Party, and always perform signal feats in the theaters of regional construction for the cause of the Party and the happy life of the people.

Leading officials of the Party and government went round the newly-built hospital and foodstuff factory, daily-necessities factory and garment factory, together with the participants in the inauguration ceremony.

The inauguration ceremony marked another occasion in further cementing the belief in the bright future of eternally prospering socialist Korea along with the brilliant results of the regional development policy which has been powerfully carried on year on year thanks to the unique state-building ideas of the great Comrade Kim Jong Un and his wise leadership. -0-
