                                       London  29th May Juche 112(2023)

The Association for the Study of Songun Politics UK(ASSPUK),, British Group for the Study of the  Juche Idea(BGSJ)) , the Korean Friendship Association of the UK ( KFA UK) and the   British Solidarity Committee for the Peace and Reunification in the Korean Peninsula(BSCPRKP) issued a joint statement in support of the press statement of Pak Sang Gil, vice-minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK issued on the 29th of May  ;

In a statement, comrade Pak Sang Gil vice minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK clarified the stance of the DPRK towards the issue of improving DPRK-Japan relations and the holding of a DPRK-Japan summit.

Recently the prime minister of Japan, Kishida talked about the "Japan-DPRK summit without preconditions" and even consultations for the early holding of a DPRK-Summit.

If Japan does genuinely want to hold a summit without preconditions with the aim of improving relations between Japan and the DPRK then a summit could go ahead. However, if Japan clings to the past and maintains hostility by denying the DPRK's right to self-defence and raising issues that have been long resolved then such a summit would be "a miscalculation and a waste of time."

We support the statement of comrade Pak Sang Gil vice minister of Foreign Affairs of the DPRK and call for Japan to drop its hostility towards the DPRK and negotiate with the DPRK on a fair and equal basis .
