Pyongyang, April 27 (KCNA) -- The Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Country of the DPRK Saturday issued a memorandum dealing with the exploits of Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un in opening up a new era of peace, prosperity and reunification of the Korean peninsula on the occasion of the first anniversary of the Panmunjom north-south summit and the Panmunjom Declaration.
The memorandum said that Kim Jong Un unfolded a new chapter of the nation's history for reunification.

In his New Year Address for Juche 107 (2018), he took the initiative of setting forth the courageous policy for a fundamental turn in the north-south ties for foiling the moves of the anti-reunification forces at home and abroad and making a breakthrough toward independent reunification.
He clarified important guidelines for weathering the difficulties lying in the way of national reunification including the issue of defusing acute military tension and creating a peaceful environment on the Korean peninsula, the issue of actively creating the atmosphere for national reconciliation and reunification and the issue for the north and the south to hold high the banner of national independence.
On April 9 last year, he convened the session of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea in Pyongyang and clearly indicated the orientation towards the development of the north-south ties while mentioning the north-south summit meeting and talks to be opened at the "House of Peace" in the south side portion of Panmunjom.
Thanks to the outstanding leadership and patriotic bold decision of the peerlessly great man, there opened north-south summit meeting and talks in Panmunjom on April 27, 2018 at last and this was recorded as the third summit meeting and talks in the history of the north-south relations.
The Supreme Leader powerfully propelled independent reunification, peace and prosperity.
In order to give a steady continuity to the trend of the nation's history toward independent reunification, he made sure that the fourth north-south summit meeting and talks were held at the Thongil House in Panmunjom on May 26, 2018.
High-level talks, Red Cross talks and inter-sector technical talks in various fields including sports, railways and roads were held for the implementation of the Panmunjom Declaration and military talks and contacts were activated for the mitigation of military tension and the removal of the danger of war.
In this period, the Supreme Leader provided DPRK-U.S. summit meeting and talks, the first of their kinds in history, and made sure that the DPRK-U.S. joint statement was adopted to powerfully propel the trend towards peace and prosperity of the Korean peninsula.
He provided the fifth north-south summit meeting and talks in Pyongyang on September 18, 2018, in order to further speed up the development of the north-south ties and bring about rich autumn of peace, prosperity and reunification on the Korean peninsula.
The historic September Pyongyang meeting and talks between the top leaders of the north and the south offered an epochal turn in further consolidating the valuable achievements made by the north and the south hand in hand and accelerating the north-south ties along the new orbit of peace, the orbit of reconciliation and cooperation.
The Supreme Leader provided a treasured sword for braving the tempest of history.
The three north-south summit meetings and talks and the adoption of the north-south declarations last year marked an event of weighty significance in national history as they reversed the grave situation which was inching close to a war and declared the start of a new journey toward national reunification.
But, the anti-reunification forces in south Korea have gone desperate to turn the north-south ties to those of discord and confrontation while caviling at the north-south declarations, in defiance of the desire of the fellow countrymen and the unanimous expectation of the international community.
The U.S. is employing every possible means and method to subordinate the north-south ties to its policy of sanctions and pressure upon the DPRK, while openly pressurizing the south Korean authorities.
In his policy speech at the First Session of the 14th Supreme People's Assembly, the Supreme Leader underlined the need to take proper stand and attitude of invariably maintaining and thoroughly implementing the north-south declarations reflecting the unanimous will of the entire nation whatever difficulties and obstacles, and gave perfect answers to the principled and realistic problems for the implementation of the north-south declarations, including the issue of putting an end to submission to big countries and policy of dependence on outsiders, the issue of subordinating everything to the improvement of inter-Korean relations, the issue for all the Koreans in the north and south and abroad to resolutely foil the moves of the U.S. and the south Korean conservative forces challenging the trend of history toward the improvement of the north-south ties and peace and reunification.
Now the entire nation is fully supporting and hailing the fundamental principle and stand on national reunification clarified by the Supreme Leader in his policy speech, saying that they are immortal reunification programme which can be set forth only by the peerless patriot and outstanding great man possessed of warm love for the country and nation and unusual wisdom.
