  The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK(ASSPUK),the Juche Idea Study Group of England(JISGE),the UK Korean Friendship Association(UK KFA), the UK Preparatory Committee For the 2017 Gathering to Praise the Great Persons Born of Mt Paektu and the UK KFA Trade Union Section  issued a statement on the holding of the 7th Congress of the General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea of the DPRK:
   The General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea (GFTUK)of the DPRK,which has a proud history of 70years , has successfuly held its 7th Congress on the 25th and 26th of October. This was a very important event as the GFTUK as the mass organisation of the working class of the DPRK.The GFTUK is a Juche-based trade union movement that is based on revolutionary principles and rejects reformism and class colloborationism.
  The Congress respresented the wishes , aspirations and views of millions of workers of the DPRK. The Congress follows on from the 7th Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea  and the Congress of the youth league. These congresses show the democracy of the DPRK and that the people are involved at all levels in decision making.
  The Congress of the GFTUK recieved a letter from the dear respected leader Marshal KIM JONG UN which  was  titled "The Duty of the Working Class of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il for the Times and the Tasks Facing Trade Union Organizations" which outlined important tasks for the trade unions to accomplish in  the new era of the Juche revolution .
  What the holding of the 7th Congress of the GFTUK shows is that is a blatant falsehood that workers are repressed in the DPRK or that the role of the working class in People's Korea. Indeed nothing could be further from the truth. In People's Korea that GFTUK was a splendid Central Hall of Workers and was able to hold its congress , whereas in south Korea the HQ of the south Korean trade unions was attacked by riot police. The leader of the south Korean trade unions received a heavy jail sentence.The GFTUK of the DPRK was held its congress publicly and has elected a leadership as well as mapping out policies.
 We congratulate the GFTUK on its successful 7th Congress.
