KCNA Commentary Derides U.S. Hypocritical Talk about Denuclearization

Pyongyang, October 7 (KCNA) -- The U.S. is mulling investing one trillion U.S. dollars in the modernization of nuclear weapons in 30 years to come.
Its yearly expenditure for the development of nuclear weapons and atomic research stands at 10 billion U.S. dollars.
This has brought to light once again the hypocrisy of the rhetoric about a "world without nuclear weapons" made by the present chief executive of the U.S.
During his presidential election campaign in 2008 Obama committed to building "a world without nuclear weapons" and during his trip to Berlin in 2013 he called for cutting down the number of the strategic nuclear weapons in the world by one third.
But the U.S. has stepped up the development and modernization of nuclear weapons under the signboard of denuclearization.
This year it earmarked the biggest amount of fund since the 1950s for the study, development, test and manufacture of nuclear weapons and is contemplating modernizing nuclear warheads by spending 355 billion U.S. dollars in 10 years to come. If several weaponry systems are replaced after the year 2020 it is expected that the amount of fund will further swell.
New weapon-grade plutonium production base and nuclear test ground appeared in Los Alamos, etc. in New Mexico State and uranium enrichment started in a new installation in Tennessee.
The U.S. which has a stockpile of nuclear weapons huge enough to devastate the whole earth is directing efforts to the modernization of the weapons, a serious encroachment upon the human right to existence and the world peace and stability.
No matter how noisily the U.S. may trumpet about a "world without nuclear weapons" it can never evade the responsibility as the arch criminal which poses a nuclear threat to the world by developing, manufacturing and deploying nuclear weapons.
The U.S. is the world's biggest nuclear criminal state as it manufactured nuclear weapons and used them for the first time in the world and is now keen to dominate the world with them.
The U.S. nuclear policy sparked off the race for developing and manufacturing nuclear weapons in the world. This notwithstanding, the present U.S. administration invests huge funds in the modernization of nuclear weapons, the reinforcement of equipment and the development of new delivery means. This is an extremely hideous crime that may trigger off fresh arms race and nuclear arms buildup.
It is a height of artifice to mislead the public opinion for the U.S. to talk about "a world without nuclear weapons".
What is most important for denuclearizing the world is to denuclearize the U.S.
Only when all the nuclear weapons of the U.S. are dismantled and when it drops its attempt at aggression of other countries, can the world be in peace.
It is self-evident that the international movement will be intensified to cope with the U.S. threat and blackmail with nuclear weapons.
Nothing is more foolish than to think about the denuclearization of the world before the U.S. is denuclearized.
It is nothing but a ridiculous political charade for the U.S. to cry out for denuclearization and nuclear non-proliferation.
The denuclearization of the world can never come true as long as the U.S. pursues the modernization of nuclear weapons. -0-
