Ever-Victorious Workers’ Party of Korea

On October 10, 1945, the WPK (Workers’ Party of Korea), which organizes and guides all victories of the people of the DPRK (Democratic People’s Republic of Korea), was founded.

The WPK is guided by Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, the essence of which is the Juche idea and the Songun idea; the Juche idea, which clarifies that the masses of the people are the masters of the revolution and construction and that they are also the motive force of the revolution and construction, and the Songun idea, which clarifies that the revolution and construction should be advanced with the army as the main force on the principle of giving precedence to military affairs, were advanced by President Kim Il Sung in June 1930, when Korea was under Japanese military occupation (1905-1945).

Since then the Korean revolution has registered only victory under the banner of the Juche idea and the Songun idea.

Carrying forward the ideas and cause of President Kim Il Sung, Chairman Kim Jong Il applied these ideas in a thoroughgoing way in the whole period of leading the WPK.

Having advanced the policy of modelling the whole Party on Kimilsungism and consistently advocated it, he formulated the Songun idea as well as the Juche idea as the great guiding ideology of the WPK after the demise of President Kim Il Sung (July 8, 1994) and led the building and activities of the WPK to be conducted as required by the Juche idea and the Songun idea. Thanks to this, the WPK was further consolidated as an ideologically pure body equipped with the Juche idea and the Songun idea and demonstrated its might as a party that steadfastly adheres to its principle whatever the tempest of history. It could also invariably hold fast to the banner of socialism without any slightest deviation and vacillation in the closing years of the last century amid the harshest isolate-and-stifle schemes resorted to by the allied imperialist forces. Sure enough, the Juche idea and the Songun idea are recognized by the progressive peoples of the world as the guiding ideology of the cause of independence of mankind.

The WPK has achieved rock-solid unity.

Unity can be called a major criterion of a party’s invincibility and might.

The WPK’s unity, whose foundation had been provided by President Kim Il Sung, its founder, was consolidated by Chairman Kim Jong Il. He attached great importance to solidifying the WPK’s organizational and ideological unity based on one ideology and pure moral obligation and led the efforts to this end.

The rock-solid unity of the WPK reached a higher stage thanks to Songun politics which Chairman Kim Jong Il formulated in a comprehensive way in the mid-1990s. With the achieving of oneness in ideas and working style between the service personnel and civilians based on the revolutionary soldier spirit and consolidation of the whole society as a powerful socio-political force, the single-hearted unity of the society of the DPRK reached a new, higher stage.

This is why the WPK was able to follow the road of socialism without any slight vacillation when the communist and workers’ parties of other countries were experiencing the tragedy of division and disintegration in the past.

The WPK enjoys an absolute support and trust of the people of the DPRK. The secret is that it has been built into a motherly party that devotedly serves the people.

Believe in the people and rely on them at all times and you shall always emerge victorious; if you are forsaken by them, you will always fail. This was the lifelong motto of President Kim Il Sung.

Embodying this ideal of “The people are my God,” Chairman Kim Jong Il of the National Defence Commission paid special attention to developing the WPK into a motherly party that looks after people’s destiny on its own responsibility: he ensured that every line and policy of the WPK reflected people’s aspirations and demands to the fullest, and advanced such slogans as “Let the whole Party go among the masses!” and “We serve the people!” leading all the officials of the WPK to always mingle with the masses and fulfil their duty as people’s servants. He saw to it that such people-oriented policies as free medical service and free education were invariably enforced even in the days when the country’s economic situation was difficult.

First Secretary Kim Jong Un of the WPK, who is faithfully implementing the ideas and cause of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il, advanced another slogan for the WPK, “Everything for the people, everything by relying on them!” and enforces politics aimed at loving people and giving precedence to them. Under his leadership modern houses and bases for cultural and emotional life are mushrooming in the DPRK these days, and epoch-making changes are taking place in building a thriving socialist country, a people’s ideal.

It is not accidental that the people of the DPRK absolutely trust and follow the WPK, calling it motherly party, and are filled with the will to cast their lot with it to the end. That such a party is always invincible is a truth proved by history.

The WPK will always emerge victorious.
