Weightlifters of the DPRK

All the eleven men and women from the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea won gold medals at the Asian Weightlifting Championships 2024 held in February.

At the championships, which drew more than 190 contenders from over 30 countries and regions, the DPRK weightlifters set seven new world records, and bagged 32 golds and one silver, 33 in total.

After the 19th Asian Games held last year, the DPRK sportspeople were thrust into the limelight of the world’s weightlifting circles at the championships, too.

In particular, they set new world records in 12 events in the women’s category, and the DPRK ranked first in the medal standings at the championships.
