Pyongyang, July 6 (KCNA) -- An enlarged plenary meeting of the DPRK Cabinet took place through video conferencing on July 5 to carry through the resolutions of the 8th Plenary Meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK).
Premier Kim Tok Hun, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the WPK Central Committee and vice-president of the State Affairs Commission of the DPRK, guided the meeting.
Attending the meeting were Vice-Premiers Pak Jong Gun and Yang Sung Ho and other members of the Cabinet.
Present as observers were officials of organs under the Cabinet and ministries, chairmen of provincial, city and county people's committees and officials of agricultural guidance organs and major industrial establishments.
The meeting reviewed the work done by sectors and units to carry out the national economic plans in the first half of the year under the resolutions of the 6th and 7th plenary meetings of the 8th WPK Central Committee and discussed measures for thoroughly implementing the resolutions of the 8th Plenary Meeting of the 8th WPK Central Committee.
Pak Jong Gun, vice-premier of the Cabinet and chairman of the State Planning Commission, made a report.
The reporter noted that signal successes were registered in various fields in the first half of the year, thanks to the devoted efforts of officials and working people out in the drive for implementing the important tasks set forth at the plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee.
Analyzing and reviewing some deviations and causes revealed in the economic work including the fulfillment of the first half-yearly national economic plan, he said that if officials fail to conduct their work in a revolutionary way, it is impossible to make progress in the economic development of the country and the improvement of people's living.
He called upon all officials to make remarkable progress in the development of each sector, region and unit and thus consolidate the valuable victories and successes achieved through an all-people struggle and attain the grand goals for the national prosperity set forth by the plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee.
Speeches were made at the meeting.
The meeting referred to the issue for the agricultural guidance organs at all levels to control and manage the whole agricultural land in a unified way in the relevant areas and give scientific and technological guidance to farming, the issue of promoting the land management and ecological environment protection in a far-sighted and developmental way, the issues of consistently implementing the Party's childcare policy and improving the quality control and other issues and took necessary measures. -0-
