Report of Meeting ‘ President KIM IL SUNG and the Struggle of People’s Korea against US Imperialism 15.04.2023




On Saturday 15th of April ( the Day of the Sun ) the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea and the Korean Friendship Association of the UK held a meeting to commemorate the 111th anniversary of the birth of President KIM IL and also the 11th anniversary of the supreme leadership of Marshal KIM JONG UN, the 91st anniversary of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army and the 45th anniversary of the foundation of the International Institute of the Juche Idea. The meeting was held at the Cock Tavern, Euston, London. It was attended by members of the BGSJI and KFA UK, also members of the New Communist Party, Labour Party, Revolutionary Communist Party of Britain ML and Communist Party of Britain Marxist- Leninist.


  A speech was received from the DPRK embassy in London. Messages of greetings were received from KFA Germany, KFA Switzerland and the People’s Korea Initiative of Poland.




Dr Dermot Hudson Chairman of the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea and Chairman of the Korean Friendship Association of the UK opened the meeting by saying the recent successful test fire of the Hwasong-pho 18 ICBM is a great victory for Juche and self-reliance. Dr Hudson noted that the DPRK is on the frontline between socialism and US imperialism.





In their contribution, the Embassy of the DPRK in London told how President KIM IL SUNG at the age of 11 made a journey of 250 miles in order to learn about Korea and the need for national liberation.




Dr Hudson a speech titled “ President KIM IL SUNG and the Struggle of People’s Korea against US Imperialism “ . In the speech  Dr Hudson stressed that President KIM IL SUNG was a great anti-imperialist revolutionary saying that  President KIM IL SUNG ‘“President KIM IL SUNG  made the DPRK into a fortress of militant anti-imperialism and totally opposed the line of compromise with imperialism and that ‘President KIM IL SUNG's life from beginning to end was one of principled and constant struggle against imperialism and for independence”.





The head of Staffordshire KFA and secretary general of the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea focused on the international dimension of the DPRK and the Juche Idea in a speech about the 45th anniversary of the foundation of the International Institute of the Juche Idea, comrade Shaun said the first Juche idea study group was formed in Mali, West Africa and since then many international seminars on the Juche Idea were held with the formation of the International Institute for the Study of the Juche Idea (IIJI) taking place in April 1978. He stressed that the IIJI  should invigorate and diversify its activities.




Theo Russell, CC and Politburo member of the New Communist Party praised the life of President KIM IL SUNG as that of a great revolutionary. He said that the achievements of the DPRK are great and are due to the Juche philosophy authored by President KIM IL SUNG. The speaker also drew attention to the Pyongyang Declaration  “ Let Us Defend and Advance the Cause of Socialism “.




A speaker from the Communist Party of Britain Marxist-Leninist paid tribute to the DPRK’s line of independence, self-reliance and sovereignty 




Dr Hudson  also spoke about the 11th anniversary of the supreme leadership of respected Marshal KIM JONG UN saying that “The 11 years of respected Marshal KIM JONG UN’s supreme leadership have seen great victories and there will be more victories under his supreme leadership.”




Dr Hudson referred to the 91st anniversary of the foundation of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army(KPRA) the forerunner of today ‘s Korean People’s Army saying  Juche-socialism is defended by the KPA which carries forward the traditions of the KPRA .




There were questions and discussions which included praise for the Juche-based socialist public healthcare system of the DPRK.





Refreshments were served.




The meeting concluded at 16.55 hours.
