Korean Workers' Efforts Supported Abroad


Pyongyang, June 6 (KCNA) -- A solidarity resolution supporting the righteous struggle of the working class and trade union members of the DPRK was adopted at the 18th Congress of the World Federation of Trade Unions (WFTU) held in Rome of Italy.


The resolution said that the trade union representatives from different countries attending the 18th Congress extend active support and solidarity to the struggle of the Korean working class and trade union members.


It stressed that the WFTU highly appreciates the efforts of the Korean working class and trade union members who are taking the lead in the advance for the comprehensive development of socialist construction, braving ordeals and challenges by dint of self-reliance.


The Korean people's struggle for the victorious advance of socialism gives great inspiring strength to all trade unions and progressives of the world that oppose the imperialists' aggression and interference and aspire to independence, it pointed out.


It noted that the WFTU expresses full support to the self-defensive and just steps taken by the DPRK to defend the country's sovereignty and right to development and put an eternal end to the danger of war in the Korean Peninsula and the region.


Saying it is the important mission of the WFTU to oppose imperialism and dominationism and strive to build a peaceful and just world, the resolution noted that the WFTU appeals to the trade unions, international organizations and progressive forces across the world to fully support and encourage the Korean working class and trade union members in their efforts to expedite socialist construction. -0-
