The Association for the Study of Songun Politics UK(ASSPUK),,British Group for the Study of the  Juche Idea(BGSJ)) ,the UK Korean Friendship Association(KFA UK ) and the   British Solidarity Committee for the Peace and Reunification in the Korean Peninsula(BSCPRKP) issued a statement on the  holding of the 8th Political Bureau Meeting of 8th Central Committee of WPK;  

On the 12th of May  the  8th Political Bureau meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK ) was convened in the presence of the general secretary of the WPK  ,respected comrade KIM JONG UN  The meeting decided to convene the 5th Plenary meeting of the 8th Central Committee of the WPK in early June .

 The meeting also heard about the serious situation created by an apparent break in the    emergency epidemic prevention front  of the DPRK which has been maintained since February 2020 . A fever case with the Omicron BA.2 variant had discovered in the capital city Pyongyang . The meeting lost no time in ordering  the switchover from the state epidemic prevention system to the maximum emergency epidemic prevention system . Moreover it duly criticised the epidemic prevention centres for '    carelessness, relaxation, irresponsibility and inefficiency'  .

 Respected comrade KIM JONG UN called for a lockdown of all  areas throughout the DPRK .

We applaud the WPK for taking such swift and decisive measures to contain , control and eliminate the maligant disasese of Covid 19 . This shows that the WPK truly has the people's interests at heart . Some countries took many weeks and months before they implemented measures against Covid 19. It is our belief and conviction that the DPRK will win victory against the epidemic by its own efforts and without outside help .

  We call upon friendship and solidarity organisations to do more to expose the false propaganda of the imperialists against the DPRK .
