THE 'Day of the Shining Star' is so named because on that day with the birth of Kim Jong Il, a great mind and the world's best ever leader was born. The Western imperialists mock this name and show the whole world that calling this day the 'shining star day' is further evidence of the alleged cult of personality in the DPRK. Nothing more misleading, and this is a testament to the stupidity and shortsightedness of Western imperialist propaganda agencies.
The only worthy successor to Kim Il Sung, to lead the great work of the Korean revolution was his son: Kim Jong Il. Born in a poor cottage in secret military camp of the anti - Japanese Korean Revolutionary People's Army, Comrade Kim Jong Il did not have an easy life as a kid. He experienced poverty, cold and hunger in the forests of the partisan camp. A life under military struggle full of fights and risk to be captured, all this hardened him for the years to come.
Both, Great Leader - father Kim Il Sung, and the famous heroine of national liberation war - Madame Kim Jong Suk - gave Comrade Kim Jong Il an upbringing full of patriotism and love for the Korean homeland and her nation. It took place under difficult conditions full of liberation struggles. After the liberation and the creation of a people's state, right after the liberation of Korea from the Japanese occupation in 1945, comrade Kim Jong Il at the age of four, he grew up and learned to be very active in the social and political life of his country. He's young life, a life full of work and study and social commitment for people. By his earliest young life without privileges or special considerations, he soon became the leader of the people.
While diligently studying in elementary school and taking general education (September 1950 - August 1960), and high school ( Kim Il Sung University September 1960 - March 1964), the young Comrade Kim Jong Il tried to encourage more ideological education among his classmates. He was engaged and active for many social organizations. His strength and energy were a massive inspiration for self-education and an unmatched example of a diligent student and a strong-energetic intellectual. In the following years, it resulted in enormous creativity in the field of ideology in the continuation and development of the foundations of the philosophy of Juche and Songun, in many political and ideological scientific works based on classic Marxist-Leninist works.
During his life, when Kim Il Sung his father still led the Korean Revolution, Comrade Kim Jong Il step by step grows as a state leader, he fulfilled important and responsible functions in Workers Party of Korea and many governmental organs like DPRK National Defense Commission and of the Korean People’s Army (elected as a Supreme Commander in December 1991), up to Elected General Secretary of the WPK in October 1997 and re- elected General Secretary of the WPK at the Third Conference of the WPK in September 2010.
was to take the helm of the people's state when the Great President Kim Il Sung passed away in 1994.
This time, the whole world was also shocked by the crisis of the socialist camp and the collapse of the first socialist country, the USSR, Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

A turning point in Comrade Kim Jong Il's life and for the Korean Revolution struggled with

He developed further and as a pioneer all of the basis of the ideology of Marxism - Leninism in the objective - historical - social conditions of Korea of Juche. This is how Songun Policy developed in the most revolutionary theory, the theory about the priority of military tasks and the importance, the superior role of the people's army in the process of building socialism. In these and others works, Comrade Kim Jong Il precisely explained the reasons for the collapse of the word socialist's system, which begins with ideological corruption. He clearly analyzed the collapse of socialism in Eastern Europe.
What would Korea look like today, if not for Comrade Kim Jong Il wisdom and knowledge? What would happen if Comrade Kim Jong Il did not continue to lead Korea along the path of the socialist revolution, and did not conform to the revisionist influences and new opportunist trends flowing from the West after the collapse of the world socialist camp? It would probably be a colonial country plundered by the world imperialist system under the aegis of the United States. Socialist Korea, would not be a fully independent country and would not achieve what it now has by maintaining; a course for alliance with the Korean face, socialism with Juche oriented style in a single - hearted united nation.
If we look at Kim's life, we see how different it was from the life of the pompous leaders of the imperialist capitalist countries. The main difference was that Kim was always there and was with people, with his nation, through the nation's sweet and bitter days.
So, remembering Dear Comrade Kim Jong Il on his 80th - anniversary of his birth, we can and should learn from him to learn patriotism, love and dignity for ordinary people whom he gave and devoted his whole life to.
Today, when a great Korean revolution continues and successfully transforms People's Korea to be Asian Socialist's Superpower, the 'Day of the Shining Star' is the most important public holiday in DPRK. A public holiday - when happy popular masses - shows their happiness of a rich life and full of the most intellectual and material values of life - flowing from socialist prosperity. It is the day, with plenty of festivals and ceremonies, which shows the true happiness and joy of DPRK citizens.
The star, this shining star on the element of humanity, shining love for man and concern for his living conditions and man's needs is just Eternal Leader Kim Jong Il. He will remain for us as a great example of a true leader and big warm hearted commander. Commander, endowed with great wisdom and skills that served the people to whom he devoted his entire admirable life.
