The great legacy of Chairman KIM JONG IL, a great ideologist , strategist and theoretician-special article by Dr Dermot Hudson

Time rushes on and waits for no man. The ten years since the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL passed away have flown have flown by .It seems like only yesterday when I woke up on a cold December morning in 2011 and learnt of the news that the great leader comrade KIM JONG IL had passed away so suddenly and unexpectedly . The passing of ten years have not diminished in any way the stature of comrade KIM JONG IL as a great ideologist, theoretician and political strategist.

Comrade KIM JONG IL’s life and work was intimately bound up with defending the revolutionary ideas of the great leader comrade KIM IL SUNG and carrying them forward. Comrade KIM JONG IL made great achievements in not only defending the great Juche idea , the revolutionary ideology that was pioneered and laid down by comrade

KIM IL SUNG , but developing it  in depth and systematising itt thoroughly .Comrade KIM JONG IL strongly opposed modern revisionism when it appeared in the international communist  movement;. Even  while he was still at University he wrote works scathingly denounced modern revisionism such as ""On the Appearance of Modern Revisionism " and '' On the Reactionary Nature of Modern Revisionism and Our Party's Revolutionary Stand in the Anti-revisionist Struggle". However at the same time he was not a dogmatist or an enthusiast for ‘nostalgia politics’ , he took a fresh and creative approach and saw the limitations of existing theories .

The Juche Idea had come into being to meet the requirements of the Korean revolution and the contemporary times . Comrade KIM JONG IL from a young age defended the ideology of President KIM IL SUNG and studied in depth .  The summation of the deep study and research of comrade KIM JONG IL is undoubtedly the work ‘ ON THE JUCHE IDEA' which was published in March 1982 .  In the work comrade KIM JONG IL explained the origin of the Juche ,its philosophical principle, its socio historical principles and its guiding principles .The work was and is an encyclopaedia of the Juche Idea . At the time of its publication it was hailed as ‘a new Communist Manifesto ‘ . The work is a powerful guide for revolutionaries building a new world of independence .

Comrade KIM JONG IL in the 1970s declared that the revolutionary ideology of President KIM IL SUNG was KImilsungism and put forward the militant revolutionary programme of modelling the whole of society on Kimilsungism which was an original idea .This was supplemented by the line of the three revolutions ; ideological , technical and cultural. The programme of modelling the whole of society on Kimilsungism combined with the line of the three revolutions constituted a great militant programme for building socialism and communism in Korea as well as giving powerful inspiration for the world revolutionary forces.

It was because of the correct ideas and lines of comrade KIM JONG IL that the DPRK was able to hold fast to the teachings of great President KIM IL SUNG and not deviate from them , indeed comrade

KIM JONG IL declared ‘ Expect No Change from Me ‘,shortly after President KIM IL SUNG passed away . Guided by the ideas of President KIM IL SUNG and Chairman KIM JONG IL the DPRK became an invincible socialist fortress that was able withstand the storms of raging anti-socialism and modern revisionism .

Today People’s Korea under the banner of self-reliance guided by respected Marshal KIM JONG UN carries forward the great legacy of Chairman KIM JONG IL, a great ideologist , strategist and theoretician .
