DPRK's History of Self-reliance (22)

Pyongyang, August 12 (KCNA) -- Recorded in the DPRK's history of self-reliance is the struggle of the workers at the Rakwon General Machine Enterprise, who manufactured a new-type large oxygen separator by their own efforts and technology in the 1980s and thus demonstrated the might of the independent socialist economy.

In fact, advanced science and technology and rich experience are needed to make an oxygen separator consisting of lots of small and big equipment and facilities.

President Kim Il Sung assigned this heavy task of making an oxygen separator to the employees of the enterprise, showing his deep trust in them.

Chairman Kim Jong Il took a step to build an oxygen separator branch factory and start its operation at an early date by examining the construction master plan and bird's-eye view of the factory twice and forming its strong construction forces.

Encouraged by the deep trust of the President and the Chairman, the workers of the enterprise fully displayed the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance and fortitude to manufacture precision heat and hydraulic machines, single-purpose equipment like electric and automatic equipment and apparatuses. When the production was impeded owing to the lack of standardized aluminum plate, they made rolling equipment by their own efforts to ensure the supply of standardized material.

Thanks to their indomitable struggle, the large oxygen separator No. 1 went into operation in October Juche 74 (1985). Its completion was a revolution in the development of the country's machine industry.

In the new century, they made in a short period the large oxygen separator with a capacity of 15 000 cubic meters.

Today, the employees of the Rakwon General Machine Enterprise are striving to implement the new five-year pan for national economic development in the spirit of self-reliance and self-development displayed in each period of the revolution. -0-
