Message from Michael Chant, Secretary, Friends of Korea,
to the Online Meeting to Remember President Kim Il Sung,
July 8, 2021
On this solemn occasion of the 27th anniversary of the passing of President Kim Il Sung on July 8, 1994, Friends of Korea pays respects to the memory of this great and legendary leader of the Korean people. President Kim Il Sung worked tirelessly for the Korean and world’s people, and for global peace and a stable world until the very last moments of his life.
Indeed, the history of modern Korea is inexorably linked to the contributions and leadership of President Kim Il Sung, as he guided the Korean revolution from victory to victory. His legacy is unshakable and lives on, as can be seen in how the DPRK is still overcoming all obstacles in the face of the hostility of US-led imperialism. The legacy can be seen in how the DPRK stands as a fortress against all hostile activity and a factor for peace in the world. Furthermore, Kim Il Sung’s cherished goal of the reunification of the Korean people by their own efforts is a legacy which is being carried forward in the present by the Korean people under the leadership of the Workers’ Party of Korea and the respected Kim Jong Un. This example continues to inspire progressive humanity throughout the world.
With one heart and mind, the Korean people are demonstrating their determination to carry forward the Juche revolution true to the principles laid down by President Kim Il Sung. Friends of Korea expresses its confidence that they will continue to make great strides in this project. At a time when the peoples of the world are striving to achieve a new world and leave the old one behind, a great debt is owed to President Kim Il Sung and the Korean people for the incalculable sacrifices made to establish the DPRK, and to reunify Korea so as to guarantee peace on the Korean peninsula. These achievements confirm that a new world is both possible and necessary.
Deepest respects to the memory of legendary leader Kim Il Sung.
