Inauguration of Committee

Civil organizations including the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration and the Progressive Solidarity held a meeting on the occasion of the 21st anniversary of publication of June 15 joint declaration. They inaugurated the August 15 Conference Committee for Promotion of Independence, Peace and Unification of the Korean Peninsula. They flailed the US for disturbing the implementation of inter-Korean declarations and straining situation of the Korean Peninsula. They demanded withdrawal of the US hostile policy toward north Korea, dismantlement of military nexus between south Korea, US and Japan and cancellation of joint military exercise. They urged the south Korean authorities to give up military alliance with outsiders but implement inter-Korean declarations.   They issued their action plan; they will demand cancellation of south Korea-US joint military game, stand opposed to revision of Japanese Constitution and military nexus between south Korea, US and Japan and launch campaign against arms race and arms buildup by making public declarations and holding online meetings from June 15 to August 15. They are going to hold rallies for independent unification and peace of the Korean Peninsula outside the US embassies in different parts of the world and south Korea in solidarity with overseas Korean and world peace-loving organizations at the same time on August 15.         In response to their call, south Korean civil organizations express their will to accelerate actions against the US on the occasion of Korea’s liberation day.    A press conference for inaugurating the committee
