Historic "Pyongyang Declaration"

The Pyongyang Declaration is an instrument made by the representatives of the political parties of the world which manifests the firm will to carry the cause of socialism through to the end.

It was published in Pyongyang on April 20, 1992.

The heads and representatives of the political parties aspiring after socialism including the communist and socialist parties of the world visited Pyongyang to participate in the ceremony for celebrating the 80th birth anniversary of President Kim Il Sung. During the stay in the DPRK they had multilateral and bilateral contacts among themselves and agreed to adopt the Pyongyang Declaration and had contacts with other progressive parties not present in Pyongyang at the time.

The declaration stipulated that a socialist society, an ideal society long cherished by the mankind and which represents its future is in essence a genuine people’s society in which the masses of people become masters of everything while everything serves for them, whereas a money-almighty capitalist society is an unequal society where an exploitation of man by man prevails and a tiny handful exploiter class lords it over and the rich get ever richer and the poor ever poorer.

The declaration suggested it a common task for all the parties to strengthen the ties of the comradely unity, cooperation and solidarity in the principle of independence and equality, and clarified that it is an international duty for all the parties and progressive forces for the sake of socialism and at the same time a work for themselves.
