The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK (ASSPUK),the British Group for the Study of the Juche Idea(BGSJI, the UK Korean Friendship Association(UK KFA) and British Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification (BSCPRKP) issued a joint statement concerning the UK's support for the anti-DPRK human rights campaign in the UN Security Council;

Our organizations express our condemnation in the strongest terms of the British Government's support for the United States' raising spurious concerns about the DPRK's human rights record in a closed-door session of the United Nations Security Council.

Coming as it does on the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the DPRK and the United Kingdom makes this action still more reprehensible, especially as so many Britons are suffering human and economic rights violations as a result of the deliberate policies of the UK government.

Our organisations insist the British government stops spouting nonsense about "ongoing human rights violations" but instead begins the long process of redressing the harm it has done to UK-DPRK relations, as well as its own citizens.
