 Decree of Amnesty Promulgated in DPRK


Pyongyang, August 15 (KCNA) -- The Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea promulgated a decree of amnesty on July 30 on the occasion of the 75th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea.


The decree said that the 75 year-long history of the glorious WPK is the one of warm love for people, in which it has dedicated itself to the people, being fully responsible for their destiny and future and taking care of them.


It noted that it is the consistent policy of the WPK and the government of the DPRK to take warm care of anyone who was born on this land, being wholly responsible for protecting his destiny and future.


According to the decree, amnesty will be granted to those, who had been convicted of crimes against the country and the people, on the occasion of the 75th founding anniversary of the WPK.


The amnesty will take effect from Sept. 17, Juche 109 (2020).


The DPRK Cabinet and relevant organs will take practical measures to help the released people settle down in normal working life.
