26 Years of Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung’s Passing- speech of the Brazilian Centre for the Study of Songun Politics to the online meeting to remember President Kim Il Sung
Today, the 7th July of the year 2020, we remember the 26 years of the passing of the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung. We’ve been living difficult times, that are daily intensifying. Not only in Brazil, but all over the world, with an even stronger economical crisis in several countries, the increasing of poverty, hunger, the suppression of labor and social rights, and also the growth of fascist ideologies in politics. This pandemic is showing us the true face of capitalism, company owners, politicians and the so said “countries leaders” and “presidents”. People are not their aim, and they are making it clear for us everyday. Many political groups don’t seem to think on something to do about that, and just talk. Some, don’t even have a model, someone to think about as an example of what to do. In this date, we should remember Comrade Kim Il Sung as an example and model, and here’s why:
The Korean Peninsula was dominated by the Japanese empire in 1910, in an extremely repressive and violent regime, which was a real nightmare in the lives of Koreans. Imagine not being able to speak your own language, practice your own culture and customs, traditional religion, having to adopt a name in the colonizer language instead of yours, being considered a sub-citizen, being enslaved in many ways, seeing horrendous things with your own eyes, practiced by people who simply took possession of the territory and identity that belonged to you? That was what happened at that time. Two years after the beginning of this domination, a boy was born from a peasant family who grew up in this reality. At the age of fourteen, he could not bear to go through any of this anymore (at that time you became an adult early, especially because of the way they treated Koreans) and decided to join boys of his own age to fight against this empire. His desire to change everything, which scholars in his life call “will of steel”, made him succeed in awakening in people the desire to overthrow the Japanese empire and free them from all this horror. In a short time, there were already a few hundred people in a true guerrilla army that, under the command of this young boy (I repeat, with only fourteen years old) managed to lead the battle that removed the colonizer from their lands. Its affiliation with the ideology of Marxist socialism added to this struggle against imperialism the goal of the total liberation of the Korean people, and the establishment of a popular government, in the models of Marx and Lenin. This young man, comrade Kim Il Sung, after all these significant battles managed, with his revolutionary army, to make this ideology a reality, raising more and more arms in the struggle for the final victory.
Even with imperialism (this time as a new enemy: the Americans) trying to counter extremely cowardly attacks, which claimed the lives of many of his brothers and sisters in Korea, the Great Leader of that battle, Comrade Kim Il Sung, managed exceptionally to command his great popular army to end this threat. And not only did he win, but the imperialists had to make an armistice agreement to stop the combats, and divide the peninsula into two sides: north and south. Now, President Kim Il Sung led the newly founded country with great strength, firmly, and putting people first because, according to him, “people are my God”. He performed incredible feats to increase the quality of life of his people, and he was successful. His will of steel did not allow imperialism to attack his country again, despite all the threats and sanctions, and his ideas of self-determination and self-sufficiency (which he called Juche) were what made this nation prosper. Kim Il Sung was a man devoted to the people, to the revolution, and his routine was only the growth of the people as a nation, and as owners of their own destiny. He made friends with leaders of different nations, even though he did not agree in many points with the ideologies of many of them, he won everyone's sympathy and helped them on their way for the progress of their peoples, as well as receiving help for this. He was a highly respected revolutionary leader, and considered an example for all those who followed the same path. His revolutionary contributions were vitally important to the whole world. He sent aid to countries struggling for independence in Africa, Asia and the Americas and believed in the cause of people far from Korea when no one yet believed in victory. Thanks to President Kim Il Sung, several countries have freed themselves from colonialism and the world has become a better place.
The fact that the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is still standing today defending its Revolution is the final proof that the Juche Idea, developed by President Kim Il Sung, is the right line and his leadership was correct to materialize the revolutionary cause of the people Korean. In this year in which we remember the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Workers' Party of Korea, the result of President Kim Il Sung's work, his memory is even more acclaimed as the memory of a unique and unforgettable personality.
Comrade Kim Il Sung is the eternal Sun of Humanity!
Comrade Kim Il Sung, even having disappeared physically, remains alive in the hearts of all Koreans and revolutionaries across the planet to this day. His high ideals of building a new, free and independent world continue as the noblest revolutionary thoughts ever defended in Humanity. He was a true sun that lit up Korea and the world at a time when fascism and imperialism threatened working people.
In times of difficulty, ideas are not very clear, and we end up wanting to give up many things. But, we must always remember that we are the masters of our own destiny, we have all the strength to shape and modify it the way we want, because we are powerful, and masters of our own path. This is the lesson that this Great Leader leaves for us, and left throughout his life, in examples and more examples that serve us all today. To end difficult times, let us develop the strength of revolutionary leaders, and model ourselves on good examples, such as that of Great Leader comrade Kim Il Sung! Let us develop the will of steel!
