April has a deep meaning to all of us. April comes every year, but it is the month that is becoming more and more awaited with solemnity year after year with the boundless yearning for President Kim Il Sung, the Sun of the mankind.
Worldwide, a number of personages left their names in history for their exploits, noble virtues and excellent mode of politics. After their death, however, their aims and exploits were almost forgotten, few of them enjoy as much respect as they did in their lifetime. Memories of a person fade away with the passage of time.
But this is not the case with President Kim Il Sung. The history of the Sun, President Kim Il Sung is alive forever alongwith the Day of the Sun, 15th April.
The Socialist Constitution of the DPRK stipulates that Kim Il Sung is the eternal President of the Republic.
He passed away but the Juche Idea authored by him and his theories are still applied by the DPRK in its state building and activities; his books are read by all the peoples. Today DPRK does everything as intended by the President. The peopl-first principle is the state's political ideal.
Mosaic murals depicting the smiling leader and the towers dedicated to his immortality are seen all over the country. People love singing songs in praise of him and always live with him while wearing near their hearts the badges of his smiling portrait. With boundless yearning for him, all the people visit his statues and murals on his birthday and other significant occasions.
Today the Day of the Sun is being celebrated worldwide. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to the political history of the world and of his internationalist activities, orders and medals have been conferred on him by many countries and the Day of the Sun is being celebrated in great ceremony by the States, Parties, social organizations and individuals from various countries.
Though his birthday was of a great significance to the mankind, President Kim Il Sung never enjoyed his birthday in ceremony but rather dissuaded the officials from celebrating his birthday.
The editor-in-chief of Indian newspaper Indian Times, who was on a visit to Pyongyang to congratulate the 55th anniversary of the birth of President Kim Il Sung, went to a province of the country to see him who was then on a field guidance trip. After greeting him, the President said: I don't like celebrating my birthday; if I were in Pyongyang, officials and many other people would come to congratulate me on my birth anniversary; so in order to avoid them and also to guide provinces on the spot I have come here; I prefer to be with workers and farmers to be participating in a birthday party in Pyongyang.
It was President's 70th birthday, on which he had talks with the visiting foreigners. He said to them: On the occasion of my 70th birth anniversary our people have built a maternity hospital, an ice rink and many apartment houses; I am not fond of observing my own birthday, but if everybody does such good things to mark this day, I wish I had more birthdays.
When Jimmy Carter, the former US President, was visiting the DPRK in June, 1994, he had a talk with President Kim Il Sung on board a ship sailing on the Taedong River, one of the five longest rivers in Korea. As the ship was making its way, Kim Il Sung called one of his entourage and asked him to get the ship to slow down. Carter asked him why the ship was moving slowly.
Kim Il Sung, pointing to some anglers on one side of the river, said that if their ship disturbed the water by travelling at high speed, it may bother the anglers. He added that they should sail a bit slower for the anglers' convenience. Carter was greatly moved by the DPRK leader's love for his people. It was what he had neither anticipated nor could think about in the past. His astonishment was not only this. At the talks with President Kim Il Sung, he learned that his dialogue partner was knowledgeable enough to specify solutions to the fundamental issues regarding the confrontation between the two countries, and that he was strong in his independent faith, as compared with other politicians he had met before. After returning to his country, Carter stated that President Kim Il Sung was greater than George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Abraham Lincoln, the most illustrious in the founding and development of the US, put together.
President Kim Il Sung made an immortal contribution to carrying out the cause of independence of mankind. The world has big and small countries, developed and developing countries, but they should not be ranked one above the other and one must not dominate the other. It was his dictum.
His ennobling humanity grasped the hearts of all the people. Those who had met him, be they Koreans or foreigners, became fascinated by him and cherished the feeling of worship towards him.
Stalin, Head of the former USSR and Chairman Mao Zedong and Prime Minister Zhou Enlai of China praised President kim Il Sung as a genuine proletarian internationalist. Josip Tito, the then President of former Yugoslavia and one of the founders of the non-aligned movement, said that the current world of independence could be associated only with the name of President Kim Il Sung, highly praising him as the great leader of the world revolution. Fidel Castro, Leader of Cuba said that Kim Il Sung was the most experienced and prestigious of the heads of the states in the world. Famous politicians, heads of states and prominent figures including Nordom Sihanouk, former King of Cambodia, former President Sukarno of Indonesia, former Premier Ho Chi Minh of Vietnam, former President Costa Gomes of Portugal and American Evangelist, Bily Graham praised Kim Il Sung as the eminent politician, the close comrade, great person who moves the world with his reputation for moral influence. Kanemaru Shin, the former vice premier of Japan, said that President Kim Il Sung was a great statesman who could not be found in the world history and that it was regrettable to meet such a man in the twilight of his political career. A head of state respected the President, calling him his elder brother, and other foreigners followed him as their father. The foreigners the President Kim Il Sung met from the liberation of Korea to the last year of his life topped 70000 from 136 countries. Only with this fact, everybody could acknowledge how high reputation and influential power he had.
Those, who had visited the International Friendship Exhibition House on Mt. Myohyang, cannot repress their astonishment. It is the treasure house that vividly shows the respect and admiration of the mankind towards President Kim Il Sung.
The immortal exploit of the President Kim Il Sung who opened up the way for the world independence will remain forever in the hearts of the world progressive peoples along with the Day of the Sun.
Today, the revolutionary cause of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il is being steadfastly carried forward by Comrade Kim Jong Un.
We will never forget the emotion and exitement of 11th April (Comrade Kim Jong Un was elected the First Secretary of WPK) and 13th April (Comrade Kim Jong Un was elected the First Chairman of the NDC) when Korean people have Comrade Kim Jong Un at the highest esteem of the State and the Party. With his wise leadership, Korean People would be sure to continue the cause of building the prosperous nation as aspired by President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il.
By upholding the ideology of breaktrough head-on which had been put forward by Comrade Kim Jong Un at the 5th Plenery Meeing of 7th Session of the Central Committee of WPK, everywhere in Korea there blows strong wind of making miracles and bringing about innovation. Under the banner of self-prosper and self-develop, Korean people finalized the 2nd stage construction of Samjiyon City, construction of Yangdok Hot Spa Resort and Jungpyong Vegetable Green Houses. This shows in reality that any kind of "sanctions" or "blockade" could not check the advance and the grand march of Korean people at all.
With the unshakable faith and will to push ahead vigorously along the invariable course of achieving prosperity by self-reliance, united firmly around Comrade Kim Jong Un, Korean people will surely accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche that has been oriented from Paektu and the isolation and stifle maneuvers of the hostile forces will face the total disruption.
