Nationwide anti-Japanese feelings

Nationwide anti-Japanese feelings

A nationwide action against Japan’s economic invasion is taking place across south Korea ahead of the 74th anniversary of Korea’s liberation.

A candlelight rally criticizing Japan took place under the sponsorship of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions and the People’s Action against Abe in Seoul on August 15.

More than 100, 000 people, in rain, chanted slogans “No Abe!”, “Liquidate pro-Japanese elements!” and “Abolish GSOMIA!”

When I was 14 years old, a principal of the Japanese school said that he would make her attend middle school, if she didn’t obey his words, he would put her parents behind the bars, Unable to refuse his words, I went to Japan, far from attending the school, I had worked all day long without pay, Yang Geum-dok, (aged 91) a draftee of forced laborer in the past, testified.

After the end of the rally, they marched along the street and the Japanese embassy, chanting slogans.

Prior to this, a civic organization held a rally to demand Japan’s apology and compensation.

The US is bulldozing the south Korean authorities to increase upkeep for the US forces in south Korea and looking on Japan’s economic invasion with folded arms and putting pressure upon south Korea not abolish the GSOMIA, they noted. They stressed that the workers would maintain the principle of national independence.

After the end of the rally, they marched to the embassies of Japan and US carrying a statue of draftee of forced labor.
