National Reunification Institute Issues Detailed Report on Struggle to Dissolve LKP
Pyongyang, June 5 (KCNA) -- The National Reunification Institute made public on Wednesday a detailed report on the daily-escalated struggle of broad popular masses throughout south Korea for the dissolution of the "Liberal Korea Party" (LKP) of south Korea.
The detailed report said that LKP has been cursed, denounced and rejected by the south Korean people for its treacherous and unpopular nature, fascist disposition and unpardonable crimes against the history and nation since its ancestor "Liberal Party".
The report continued:
Remnants of the fascist dictatorial party and its descendants renamed the party the "Democratic Republican Party", "Democratic Justice Party", "Democratic Liberal Party", "New Korea Party", "Grand National Party", etc. in succession in order to escape the stern trial by the people and prolong their remaining days, and they dampened the desire of the people for independence, democracy and reunification and tried to make south Korea a land where sycophancy, treachery, fascism and anti-reunification acts stalk, but they could not spare themselves the resistance and punishment.
This year, the climate to reject LKP has gained further momentum among south Koreans from all walks of life.
In particular, the people's anger erupted occasioned by the reckless remarks about May 18 uprising made by the traitors of the LKP in February.
In March the struggle swept across south Korea including not only Kwangju and Seoul but also Taejon, Kyonggi Province, Kangwon Province of south Korea and Jeju Island.
Candlelight rallies and citizens' rallies demanding the disbandment of the LKP were held even in Pusan and Taegu areas called the origin of the party, throwing the conservative group into confusion.
The campaign for the dissolution of the LKP has been given a shot in the arm on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the ferry Sewol disaster to become widespread, assuming popular nature with each passing day.
It is joined by whoever loves justice and hates injustice ranging from primary school students, workers, students, housewives to the elderly in their 70s, to say nothing of organizations of a broad spectrum of people like the Solidarity for People's Sovereignty, May 18 Memorial Foundation, April 16 Solidarity, Confederation of Trade Unions, South Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration, Citizens' Solidarity to Denounce "Liberal Korea Party", People's Joint Action and People's Action for Peace against War.
Candlelight gatherings and demonstrations take place in front of the headquarters of the "National Assembly" and the "Liberal Korea Party" and the building of the Supreme Court and at Chonggye Square and Kwanghwamun Plaza in Seoul and in other places.
And there are a series of press conferences, free speech forums, presentations of writings and art performances to lay bare the crimes committed by the LKP and arouse people to an all-out resistance for the dissolution of the LKP.
And the struggle for the dissolution of the LKP has taken up more colorful forms and methods day by day including raid on the building of the party, wreath-sending, pouring water and pelting with rubbish.
The struggle for the disbandment of the LKP has now become the second candlelight demonstration to strangle the last windpipe of the LKP, the report said, stressing that it is the inevitability of history that the LKP is destined to be ruined, severely punished by the people. -0-
