KIM JONG IL A GREAT IDEOLOGIST -special article by Dr Dermot Hudson

The great leader comrade Kim Jong Il  was the great successor to the cause of the Juche revolution pioneered by the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung . Comrade Kim Jong Il  always stood in the van of defending  the Juche idea and fighting for  it as well as developing it to a new higher level . The Juche was first authored by the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung  it was an idea created on the battlefields of the anti-Japanese war rather than in sedate living rooms or quiet libraries . Kim Jong Il fought to uphold the Juche idea against factionalists , revisionists and stodgy dogmatists who tried to block the advance of independence and socialism in Korea. From his early days at university he was
a great exponent of the revolutionary ideology of President Kim Il Sung.
   The great leader comrade Kim Jong Il had developed the Juche idea of the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung  creating an integral system of ideology and thought known as Kimilsungism .  He also developed in depth the Juche idea and systematised it  by publishing the historic thesis " On the Juche Idea '  in March 1982 which was an true encyclopaedia of the Juche idea as well being a great and powerful manifesto for human liberation.This work was translated into many languages .
   Prior to that as socialist construction proceeded the question of modelling the whole society on Kimilsungism came into sharper focus . Earlier in 1967 the great leader  comrade Kim Jong Il had referred to the need to establish the monolithic ideological system of Juche in society
"Party propaganda workers should effectively conduct their work to do away with the ideologically evil consequences of the anti-Party،counter-revolutionary elements and firmly establish the Party's monolithic ideological system by displaying a high sense of responsibility, proving themselves worthy of the great trust and expectations of the Party"
     By the mid 1970s conditions had matured so the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il proclaimed the programme of modelling whole society on Kimilsungism.
 The great comrade  leader Kim Jong Il proclaimed the programme of modelling  as the supreme programme of the Workers' Party of Korea (WPK) at a national course of the party information workers in February 1974 .It was a truly unique and original programme This  brought about a great upsurge in carrying on the revolution and the WPK's ideological work. Also after the proclamation of the programme the flags of the 'speed campaign ' of the  mid 1970s flared up with workers creating the "70 day battle speed " .
    Since then, the WPK has further strengthened into the party of President Kim Il Sung to dynamically advance the revolution and construction under the uplifted banner of the Juche idea. The work for the modelling the whole society on Kimilsungism has also played a key role in consolidating the might of socialism centred on the masses and cementing the single-minded unity of society. Moreover the concept of turning all members of society into Juche-type communist revolutionaries was put forward.
 The great leader comrade Kim Jong Il also developed the Songun(army first ) idea . From  August 1960, when he gave guidance to the Seoul Ryu Kyong Su no 105  Tank Division of  the Korean People's Army  , he expedited the Songun based revolutionary leadership making the army the core force of the revolution. In 2003 comrade Kim Jong Il  wrote the excellent work  ' The Songun-based revolutionary line is a great revolutionary line of our era and an ever -victorious banner of Our Revolution " in which he defined the Songun idea as "Our Party’s Songun-based revolutionary leadership, Songun-based politics, is a revolutionary mode of leadership and socialist mode of politics that gives top priority to military affairs, and defends the country, the revolution and socialism and dynamically pushes ahead with overall socialist construction by dint of the revolutionary mettle and combat capabilities of the People’s Army".
    Thanks to Songun , the Korean revolution was successfully defended from imperialism and emerged much stronger than.
    Finally , when socialism was frustrated in some countries such as the USSR  owing to the intrigue of the imperialists and modern revisionists , comrade Kim Jong Il not only upheld socialism and defended it but put forward original theories in works such as 'Our Socialism Centred on the Popular Masses Shall Not Perish ' , ' The Historical lesson in Building Socialism and the General line of our Party', 'The Abuses of Socialism Are Intolerable ' and 'Giving Priority to Ideological Work is Essential for accomplishing Socialism '. These works defined the correct work to build socialism and inspired the world revolutionary people with faith in the victory of socialism.
  To conclude , as the 77th anniversary of the birth of the great leader comrade Kim Jong Il approaches, we Juche idea followers remember him for his exploits as a great ideologist .
