KIM JONG IL BUILDER OF THE SOCIALIST ECONOMY -special article by Dr Dermot Hudson

                                                   

The great leader comrade KIM JONG IL devoted his entire  life to building socialism in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea  , from the days when he was a student at KIM IL SUNG University until the very last moments of his life when he passed away on a train giving guidance to the economy .
   From the start comrade KIM JONG IL was both a theorist and a builder of the socialist economy  in Korea . He wrote works  such as 'The Position and Role of County in Socialist Construction' in 1964 ,  "On Having a Correct Understanding of  the Political , Moral and Material Incentives " and many other works which laid down a theoretical groundwork for building a socialist economy in the DPRK. Comrade KIM JONG IL always stressed the need to avoid Right and Left deviations in socialist construction.

                       

  Comrade KIM JONG IL worked at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea from 1964 , being elected to the Central Committee of the WPK and Politburo in 1970s and general secretary of the Workers Party of Korea from October 1997 . Throughout these years comrade KIM JONG IL was in the forefront of giving guidance to all sectors of the economy .,

During  the 1970s comrade KIM JONG IL actively pushed forward such ideas in the practical domain. He took  charge in the speed campaign of  and the three revolution movement . During the  1974 Speed Campaign  industrial output value in the DPRK soared by 70% probably the highest ever rate of growth  ever achieved by any country in the world , it surpassed even that of the Soviet Union under Stalin during the 1930s. In agriculture a bumper harvest was reaped . By 1975 the DPRK had basically fulfilled the 6 year plan 1 year ahead of schedule.
                                                         

  Comrade KIM JONG IL  also made economic and technical innovations such the construction of the Unryul mine conveyor belt which was an example of true genius. This conveyor belt carried soil that had been excavated from the mine out to sea  and depositing it thus creating new land for agricultural use  ! A simple yet brilliant idea !.
                                         

 Comrade KIM JONG IL gave guidance to the construction of the West Sea barrage many times in the 1980s . This was a colossal nature-changing exercise costing billions of dollars . Later during the
period of the 'Arduous March '  during the mid 1990s comrade KIM JONG IL pushed ahead with the construction of Anbyon Power station which was much bigger in scale than the West Sea barrage.He also gave guidance to Jagang province where the people had created the Jagang spirit of self-reliance .
 In the 2000s comrade KIM JONG IL made sure that the February 8th Vinalon Complex , the producer of Juche Vinalon , was fully reactivated and pushed ahead with massive projects such as
the Huichon power station .
The great leader comrade KIM JONG IL was truly  the architect and builder of the socialist independent economy of People's Korea . His work is continued by the dear respected leader
Marshal KIM JONG UN .
