Despite the cold weather, the UK Korean Friendship Association on the 5th of January 2019 picketed the offices of Channel Four , a state owned broadcaster of the UK KFA to protest against their lies and propaganda against People's Korea. The picket was held outside Channel Four offices in Horseferry Road , London and started at 1500 hours., It was attended by members of the UK Korean Korean Friendship Association , Juche Idea Study Group of England , Association for the Study of Songun Politics UK members (including the general secretary ) of the New Communist Party and the Revolutionary Communist Party of Britain ML . It was also supported by independent anti-imperialist people and members of the public.
Dr Dermot Hudson chairman of UK KFA and Official Delegate KFA for the UK spoke saying that "This is the picket called by the UK Korean Friendship Association to protest against Channel Four’s lies about the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea , known to progressive people as People’s Korea or Juche Korea or simply best Korea ! We have received messages of support from other branches of the Korean Friendship Association in Switzerland , Greece , Netherlands and Denmark . We will read some of them out later. Recently Channel Four broadcast ' Dispatches North Korea: Life Inside the Secret State '. The programme was a concoction of lies and falsehoods about People's Korea which came from so-called "defectors " from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) . Shamefully Channel Four have put themselves in the forefront of vile anti-DPRK propaganda and are playing a leading role in demonising the DPRK . Basically C4 are undermining peace efforts and the progress towards improved inter-Korean relations. They are acting as stooges of US imperialism in its most malicious pyschological warfare against People's Korea , the homeland of the Juche Idea. The so-called "documentary " took the word of a handful of so-called " defectors " from the DPRK ,who betrayed their socialist homeland just to have dollars in their pockets , as an absolute truth . . Many defectors have been shown to have lied , for example one well known defector admitted to making up parts of his story. Channel Four wilfully ignore the voice of the 25 million citizens of the DPRK who are united solidly around the respected Marshal KIM JONG UN and the Workers' Party of Korea . The citizens of the DPRK enjoy a good life with virtually free housing , free healthcare, free education , subsised food and no taxation. Channel Four chose to hide this facts. The documentary purported to show recordings of phone conversations with DPRK citizens but all the time the mainstream media tells us that the DPRK is a very "closed society " , apparently "cut off from the outside world " ,if this is so how could DPRK citizens receive phone -calls from outside ? If the DPRK is bad , then how come people can afford telephones in the first place Channel Four in the past in so-called "documentaries” such as "Children of the Secret State " have filmed in Thailand , south Korea and China , pretending that it was the DPRK. Channel Four is actually owned by the British government so is a state broadcaster the same as the BBC . Channel Four is serving US imperialism and the reactionary elites of Western countries in its demonization of People’s Korea. Channel Four are out of step with the trend of the times , last year 3 inter-Korean summits were held plus an unprecedented DPRk-US summit and a DPRK-China summit but Channel Four is just broadcasting the same old stale propaganda. We hope that Channel Four will learn their lesson and stop broadcasting anti-DPRK programmes"
A message from KFA Switzerland was read out which said in part " We condemn the malicious lies and slanders of Channel Four against socialist Korea. It is a scandalous shame and insult to "interview" a handful of so-called "defectors" and to present their horror stories as the truth. This human scum who betrayed their fatherland and their people are a criminal and shameless gang of liars. They are a mouth-piece of US imperialism in its psychological warfare against the DPRK.STOP LIES - DEFEND SOCIALIST KOREA, THE LAND OF JUCHE!! Picketers chanted "No More Lies , Channel Four , Channel Four , Stop the Lies " , " No More Channel Four " , "Down with Channel Four " , "Defend People's Korea " " Long live the Workers Party of Korea ". "Korea Is One " and "long live dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un" Down with Channel Four
