The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK (ASSPUK) , the Juche Idea Study Group of England(JISGE), the UK Korean Friendship Association (UK KFA ) ,and the British Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification on the Korean Peninsula (BSCPRKP) issued the following joint statement in support of the press statement of spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry(FM) of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) issued on the 9th of August ;
The peace-loving people of the world welcomed the first-ever DPRK-US Summit in June this year as it was a breakthrough in ending the acute and dangerous tension that exists between the DPRK and US . However the DPRK-US peace process is increasingly being imperilled by the attitude and actions of the US.
The DPRK took big steps such as discontinuing nuke tests and test-fires of ICBMs and even dismantled its nuclear test site back in May . However instead of sincerely responding to these generous measures of the DPRK , the US banged the drum of unilateral denuclearisation and brought forward this arrogant demand at the DPRK-US high level talks in early July. However the DPRK showed patience and magnanimity by returning POW/MIA remains as a gesture of goodwill to the US.
The US have totally ignored the steps taken by the DPRK and instead have continued with the
hostile anti-DPRK policy . Firstly , the US demanded the rigorous enforcement of the existing sanctions against the DPRK ,secondly, they have even gone as far to impose new sanctions on the DPRK , fourthly, the US have demanded other countries impose sanctions on the DPRK . The US has even blocked the provision of sports equipment by an international body to the DPRK .
The US media has spread false reports about the DPRK . It should be added that the hostile propaganda against the socialist system of the DPRK has continued unabated by the US.
As the DPRK Foreign Ministry warns that if the US persists its present stance which is of course contrary to the spirit and the letter of the DPRK -US Summit , then the US cannot expect to see the implementation of the joint statement or denuclearisation . Indeed peace on the Korean peninsula
cannot be guaranteed.
Our organisations support the press statement of the DPRK Foreign Ministry and duly demand that
the US honestly and sincerely implements the DPRK-US joint statement.
