The Association for the Study of Songun Politics UK(ASSPUK), the Juche Idea Study Group of England(JISGE) ,the UK Korean Friendship Association(UK KFA) and the British Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification on the Korean Peninsula (BSCPRKP issued a joint statement on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the historic Joint Conference of Representatives of Political Parties and Public Organizations in North and South Korea which was held in Pyongyang in April 1948;
From the 19th of April to April 23rd 1948 the Joint Conference of Representatives of Political Parties and Public Organizations in North and South Korea was held in Pyongyang , Korea
at the initiative of the great leader President KIM IL SUNG. The conference was highly successful as it was attended by many representatives from north and south Korea including even right wing conservative nationalists like Kim Ku who had been very hostile to communism .
The conference rejected the division of Korea that had been imposed by the US imperialists and put forward a programme for a unified single Korean state based on independence. The conference also paved the way for the foundation of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea in September 1948.
The historic north -south conference will be remembered in the annals of the history of the struggle for Korean reunification , it was a great landmark in the struggle for the peaceful and independent reunification.
