The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK(ASSPUK),the Juche Idea Study Group of England(JISGE),the UK Korean Friendship Association(UK KFA) and the British Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification on the Korean peninsula (BSCPKP) issued the following joint statement in support of the "White Paper on Human Rights Violations in U.S. in 2017" published by the DPRK Institute of International Studies published on Tuesday 30th of January 2018;
It is very fitting and appropriate that the DPRK has published this excellent White paper that trenchantly exposes human rights violations in the so-called 'land of the free'. The big problem with the US is that it cannot mind its own business and continually pokes its nose into other's affair by taking issue with human rights in anti-imperialist independent countries such as People's Korea. Indeed the 'human rights' issue has become the battering ram of the US imperialists and other reactionaries in their efforts to destroy people-centred socialism in the DPRK . As someone remarked once, human rights is a political football.
There is an old saying that charity begins at home. Human rights should also begin at home , so the record of the US on human rights should be examined and analysed closely . The White paper of the DPRK Institute of International Studies has done exactly that and produced an excellent expose of the human rights situation in the USA.
Just to highlight a few issues that arise from the White Paper . As is pointed Trump is a billionaire and so around the people such as Tillerson who he appointed . It is a government of the rich , for the rich . Therefore it is the complete opposite of democracy which means government of the people for the people. The DPRK is actually the real democracy ,as it is a government of the people ,for the people.
Under Trump who had the support of American Nazis and the KKK , racism has increased a lot .The White paper draws attention to the racial violence at Charlottesville.
American working people suffer from inequality and mass unemployment as well as homelessness.
As the White Paper states "during the first week of March, 241 000 persons joined the large contingent of the unemployed; in May 9 000 public servants were fired from governmental agencies; in September the number of the unemployed increased by 33 000 as compared to that of the previous month.
In particular, unemployment of young people has become a matter of serious social concern; currently the unemployment rate of young people under 25 is 7.9%, and 31% of graduates from high schools do not have proper jobs.
According to what the U.S. administration made public, in 2017 the homeless numbered 554 000, about 10% increase as compared to that two years ago, and number of the poor families, living in rented rooms devoid of elementary facilities for living, is on the steady rise."
There is widespread discrimination against women in the US which is one of the few countries that does not give maternity pay. There is abuse and harassment of women on a big scale as evidenced by the Harvey Weinstein scandal .
Americans do not have the right to personal safety but suffer from gun crime for example "According to basic statistics, about 61 100 gun-related crimes took place in the U.S. last year, leaving 15 488 dead and 31 058 wounded."
Drug addition is also common in the US . So basically the US is the most depraved and decadent society on the face of the earth .
In today's world it is the US under the fascist Trump that is the no 1 human rights abuser !
We urge that a deep study of the White Paper of the DPRK Institute of International Studies should be made and they it should be circulated widely amongst the labour , peace and anti-imperialist movement .
