COUNTRY OF THE FUTURE - a poem by a Bulgarian friend of the DPRK

COUNTRY OF THE FUTURE
I left my heart in this country
even though it hardly rests anywhere.
It spilt throughout
throughout the wide open spaces and the fields,
throughout the rivers and the summits,
throughout the people of the Paektu mountain.

I left my heart in this country.
In the country of the future,
where all have bread and shelter,
education and dignity.
There, where each is seen
as a brother and not a wolf.
There, where children are the kings,
growing with love and bravery in their hearts.
And if you ask what they fight for,
“For peace!” is their response.

For their elders have struggled
the exploitation of the imperialists,
the theft of their lands,
the ruins of the war,
the death of their loved,
to cease the day in which:
their children will breathe freedom filled air.
As there is not a freer country than the one
which loves people
and despises war.

If you dare threaten these lands
with ruin to come,
you so wish to destroy
the abundance of theatres,
cinemas and libraries,
the beauty filled parks,
luscious alleys, orchestras,
the boats sailing in Pyongyang rivers crystal waters too.
To wish the destruction
of the children palaces and the homes of the hard working
of historical commemoration, kept in museums,
the death of my friend Ham,
having rolled up his trousers knee high
standing in the crisp stream up the Myohyangsan mountain,
of the children; singing and dancing joyfully.

But listen up, I saw, I know now!
He who threatens this land, is doomed!
For nobody can conquer a nation,
which loves people
and despises wa
