Withdraw deployed THAAD equipment!

South Korean people’s action against deployment of THAAD seriously disturbing peace and stability of the Korean Peninsula and Northeast Asia is mounting in south Korea.

A meeting was held in Seongju County on May 13 to protest against the introduction of THAAD.

Inhabitants of Soseong-ri are blocking the way in front of a hall after the surprise deployment of THAAD on April 27, Hwang Kyo-ahn (former prime minister), Kim Gwan-jin and Han Min-gu disregarded legal order and pushed ahead illegal introduction of THAAD without national consensus and the passage of a bill in the “national assembly”, an independent lawmaker Kim Jong-hun said.

Three guys lied with a straight face that the US would shoulder the expenses for THAAD deployment, the deployment of THAAD is being pushed ahead without full explanation of environmental effect, the independent lawmaker noted.

On the same day, more than 800 inhabitants of Seongju County made a belt of human in the vicinity of the Seongju golf course with seven civic organizations including the Seongju Committee for Struggle against THAAD Deployment, the Gimcheon Citizens Measure Committee against THAAD Deployment, the Seongju Emergency Measure Committee for Defending Holy Land of Won Buddhism and the Action for Checking THAAD Deployment.

They took each other’s hands from the Seongju golf course to Samgeori (1.6km) where THAAD to be deployed and built a 1.8 meter tall stone tower of peace by collecting stones from the both ends of the human belt.

They held the third meeting at which they adopted a resolution in demand of halt to THAAD deployment, a strict probe into the illegal introduction of THAAD, a stern punishment of those criminals, withdrawal of the police and removal of THAAD equipment.
