Who Is Chiefly to Blame for Plagued Situation on Korean Peninsula: KCNA Commentary

Pyongyang, May 12 (KCNA) -- The U.S. is ratcheting up tension on the Korean peninsula.

It is deploying Global Hawk drones from Guam to Yokota U.S. military base in Tokyo to keep a stricter vigilance over the DPRK. And it plans to establish an intelligence unit in the U.S. forces in south Korea and dispatch a Apache helicopter unit into the West Sea of Korea.

On April 26 and May 3 the U.S. conducted test-launches of Minuteman 3 intercontinental ballistic missiles at an air-force base in California under the simulated conditions of "attack on Pyongyang."

Such moves are a grave provocation intended to escalate the tension of the Korean peninsula on the verge of a war.

The U.S. military provocations are timed to coincide with its categorical pressure and sanctions on the DPRK under the policy billed "maximum pressure and engagement." This clearly tells once again who is at the bottom of deteriorating the situation on the Korean peninsula.

Now a number of world media and experts are expressing deep apprehension over a series of IBM test-launches by the U.S. that will plunge the situation of the Korean peninsula into the worse phase. It appears strange that the U.S. air force has frequently conducted such test-launches this year, they are apparently targeting the Korean peninsula and the U.S. is posing constant threats to the DPRK in diverse ways, they charged.

Durable peace and stability of the Korean peninsula and the region will be possible only when the U.S. puts an end to its military hostilities and anachronistic policy toward the DPRK.

No one can take issue with the DPRK which keeps taking a series of steps to bolster up its nuclear force at the high level by holding fast to the nuclear weapons of independence and justice against the U.S. high-handed nuclear war moves, because it is the exercise of its legitimate rights for self-defense.

As long as the U.S. pursues its hostile policy and its vicious nuclear threat and blackmail continue, the DPRK will increase its capabilities for nuclear attack at a breakneck speed
