The Association For the Study of Songun Politics UK(ASSPUK), the Juche Idea Study Group of England(JISGE) ,the UK Korean Friendship Association(UK KFA) and the UK Preparatory Committee For the 2017 Gathering to Praise the Great Persons Born of Mt Paektu issued a joint statement in support of the Indictment of the DPRK Institute of International Studies titled  " Truth behind the Human Rights Situation in Japan" issued on the 21st of February ;
The indictment is a timely expose of the dreadful human rights situation in Japan which is unknown to many people. The indictment is a searing critique of the human rights abuses of Japan and exposes the falsity of so-called democracy in Japan .
Japan is one the countries that became an anti-DPRK shock brigade in the so-called human rights campaign against the DPRK. This is deeply hypocritical because the human rights situation of
Japan is truly deplorable and requires redress. As the indictment of the DPRK Institute of International Studies  says "The wounds, which militarist Japan inflicted on the peoples of Korea and several other countries by committing hideous inhuman crimes against them in the last century, have not been healed, and the mankind ardently wish to see such unhappy history not repeat itself any longer.
However, until today, which has witnessed changes of centuries and generations, Japan has not yet made an open-hearted self-examination of and sincere apology for those crimes; instead, it still distorts the history, negating or justifying its crimes".
Japan has never come to terms with its fascist past but is actively going down the road of fascistisation.
The DPRK Institute of International Studies(IIS) details human rights violations by Japan in
different fields such as politics, socio-economic life ,women's rights and the rights of
ethnic minorities.
The popular masses do not participate in politics in Japan , there is a low voter turnout so
elected bodies do not reflect the views of the people. The indictment sheds light on the
repressive role of the Japanese state pointing out that "After its defeat in World War II, Japan revived the former notorious ideological police (special secret-service police) and renamed it security police and reorganized the Special Investigation Department in the days of U.S. military occupation into the Public Security Investigation Agency, empowering these law-enforcement organs to oversee the people's ideas. The laws on civil servants, protection of defence secrets, broadcasting, wiretapping and protection of specified secrets and other laws and regulations that run counter to Japan's Constitution restrict and violate the freedom of speech and expression "
The DPRK IIS should be congratulated for bringing these facts into view for the world public.
In Japan there is no right to work so many people are unemployed. Those with jobs are overworked
after being subjected to extreme exploitation. In Japan a minority own most of the wealth . At
the same time Japan is cutting down social expenditure but increasing military expenditure.
Women , children and the disabled all face discrimination and poor treatment in Japan.
Most glaring is Japan's treatment of ethnic minorities within its own borders . The Burakumin and Ainu peoples face discrimination and ill-treatment . Worst of all is Japan's extreme chauvinism
towards Korean residents in Japan and its wanton repression of the General Association
of Korean Residents in Japan(CHONGRYON).
Thus Japan is exposed as the worst human rights violator. The DPRK IIS is to be
commended for its work in exposing human rights violations in Japan. We strongly support this
indictment and believe it should be given a wide audience.
