The Korean nation at home and abroad highly extol the immortal exploits of leader Kim Jong Il who made a great contribution to the development of the Workers’ Party of Korea, the organizer and guider of all victories of the nation.

During the unprecedented severe period in the late 20th century, he consolidated the WPK as the party of President Kim Il Sung and enhanced the leading role of it to carry forward revolution victoriously. It is unthinkable apart from his prominent leadership that the Korean people could tide over the manifold difficulties and trials and defend socialism firmly and laid the solid foundation for the building of a thriving nation in the “Arduous March” and forced march.

With boundless veneration for the leader who safeguarded and took care of the destiny and life of the nation, the Korean people elected him the General Secretary of the WPK on October 8, 1997.

His election ensured the characteristic of the party and made it possible to accomplish the revolutionary cause of Juche pioneered by the President and provided a sure guarantee for the national reunification and prosperity.

With ardent reverence and affection for leader Kim Jong Il, the south Korean people sent congratulatory letters to him and celebrated the day as the national auspicious event.

Under his wise Songun-based revolutionary leadership, the WPK, demonstrating its grandeur as the most dignified and prestigious party to the world, has carried forward the cause of Juche-oriented socialism and opened up a new reunification era of “By the Korean Nation Itself”.

The glorious history of the WPK that has led the nation to victory through generations and centuries is the sacred life and great revolutionary history of the leader who led the party for decades with outstanding idea, leadership and lofty virtue.

Now, thanks to outstanding acumen of Chairman Kim Jong Un, who is identical with leader Kim Jong Il, the leader’s revolutionary history goes along with the thriving socialist country.

The Chairman defined to take over and carry forward the idea and cause of leader as a fundamental problem of building of a revolutionary party. Thanks to his noble moral obligation, the 4th Conference of the Workers' Party of Korea held in April 2012, acclaimed in high esteem leader Kim Jong Il as the eternal General Secretary of the party.

Only victory and glory will be in store for the Korean nation who is upholding the leader as the eternal General Secretary of the WPK and advancing under the leadership of the Chairman and a reunified and prosperous nation will surely be built.
