 The Association for the Study of Songun Politics UK( ASSPUK ), the Juche Idea Study Group( JISGE) , the UK Korean Friendship Association (UK KFA ) and the UK Preparatory Committee For the 2017 Gathering to Praise the Great Persons Born of Mt Paektu today issued the following statement on the publication of the work  "On the Basic Tasks Facing Kim Il Sung University in the New Era of the Juche Revolution" by the dear respected leader Marshal KIM JONG UN:
   Our organisations highly acclaim this latest work of the dear respected leader Marshal KIM JONG UN .The work takes the form of a letter sent to the teaching staff and students of KIM IL SUNG University on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the university .
   In the letter dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN reviews the history of the university and its
achievements .He gaves a very clear and precise definition of the role, nature and history of the
university saying that :
  " Kim Il Sung University is the central base for training national cadres and the highest institute of Juche-based science and education.
     The history of the university is the one of the shining victory of the Juche-oriented ideas and theories of the great Comrades Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il on education and their outstanding leadership; it is also the one resplendent with the patriotic and faithful service of all its teaching staff, students and graduates who have worked devotedly for the victorious advance of the revolutionary cause and the prosperity of their country, cherishing infinite loyalty to the Party and the leader"
   Thus the role of the university as the central base for training national cadres is clarified. The work of the university is essentially patriotic and based on the Juche-orientated ideas of the great leaders
President KIM IL SUNG and Chairman KIM JONG IL.Furthermore respected Marshal KIM JONG UN explains the unique and revolutionary nature of the university saying that "The founding of this university marked the beginning of a new history of a Juche-based and people-oriented higher education for training the people's sons and daughters into dependable pillars of a new Korea, into native cadres, and it opened a wide road for building a prosperous and independent people's state by relying on our native cadres."
  This is indeed very true. KIM IL SUNG University  and other institutes of higher education in the DPRK are truly people-orientated . They are free of charge so that the sons and daughters of the people can attend them . This is radically different to the universities of the capitalist countries which charge massive fees so that only the children of rich capitalists and the elite can afford to go to them. Moreover KIM IL SUNG University gaves the most superior form of education: Juche-based education.
   Respected Marshal KIM JONG UN reviews the achievements made by the great leader comrades
KIM IL SUNG and KIM JONG IL in guiding the work of the university and building it up into the
premier and world class university .
    Respected Marshal KIM JONG UN  puts forward programmatic tasks for the University to carry out "  Today the university is faced with an ennobling task for making a positive contribution to carrying out the cause of modelling the whole society on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism by training a greater number of talented revolutionaries who are faithful to the Party and the revolution and have high practical abilities and forcefully propelling the building of a powerful socialist country with successful research results in cutting-edge science as demanded by the new era of the Juche revolution."
  Thus the university has two basic tasks which are inter-linked namely training the future generation to be strong revolutionaries and to train people to have high scientifitic and technical ablities . Both will contribute to the modelling of the whole of society on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism.
  The respected leader Marshal KIM JONG UN stresses the self-development first idea pointing out
that " The university should work out a strategy and targets for developing itself into one of the most prestigious universities in the world on the principle of self-reliance and self-development and on a scientific and realistic basis to meet our actual conditions and the world trend, and carry them out one by one."
  This is indeed a wise strategy which will make KIM IL SUNG University one of the most prestigious universities in the world .Self-reliance and self-development are the only guarantees of true prosperity. Self-reliance and self-development also block the infiltration of imperialism and capitalism.
 This work by dear respected Marshal KIM JONG UN is a brilliant summation of the history and experience of the KIM IL SUNG University .It also charts the way forward for the University along the road of self-development and self-reliance. We have no hesitation in recommending the wide study of this work.
