Day of Strategic Force Instituted in DPRK

   Pyongyang, June 25 (KCNA) -- A decree of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK on instituting the Day of Strategic Force of the DPRK was promulgated on Friday.
    The decree said that the Strategic Force of the heroic Korean People's Army (KPA) is a reliable nuclear force of the Workers' Party of Korea that has deterred and foiled the U.S. imperialists and other hostile forces' ever more undisguised for igniting a nuclear war and can creditably guarantee the eternal future of the country and the nation.

Kim Jong Il, who successfully carried forward and developed President Kim Il Sung's idea on building the Juche-based rocket force long ago, founded the Strategic Rocket Force, an independent service, on July 3, 1999 to lay a solid foundation for bolstering the nuclear deterrent for self-defence.
    It said that true to the noble intention of the great leaders, Marshal Kim Jong Un clarified the Juche-based striking methods of the Strategic Force of the KPA in view of the prevailing situation and as required by modern warfare, and developed it into a powerful service equipped with miniaturized and high-precision nuclear strike means with his energetic guidance.
    Under the care of the peerlessly great men of Mt. Paektu the Strategic Force of the KPA has turned into a force strong in ideology and faith that fully established the party's unitary command system and into invincible militant ranks capable of blowing up at a stroke any bases of aggression on the earth, the decree said.
    It noted that to significantly mark July 3, 1999 when Kim Jong Il organized the Strategic Force of the KPA, the DPRK decided to set the day as the Day of the Strategic Force. -0-
