Pyongyang, December 28 (KCNA) -- There is nowhere else in the world
such high barrier as concrete wall dividing the Korean Peninsula into
two parts, says Rodong Sinmun Monday in an article.
It goes on:
The world people are of the view that the peninsula is inhabited by
the homogeneous nation rare to be found in any other part of the earth.
It is the greatest tragedy in the history of the nation and a shame on
it for Korea to remain partitioned.
The concrete wall was built as a symbol of division and showdown on
the peninsula. This was a product of the U.S. crafty scenario against
reunification, its heinous plot to create "two Koreas" and the
despicable acts of treachery perpetrated by the south Korean military
dictators, pursuant to its line.
The military demarcation line and the concrete wall extending in the
area south of it are cancer-like barriers physically blocking the
improvement of the inter-Korean relations and hamstringing the efforts
to achieve peace and reunification.
The situation on the peninsula is inching close to the worst phase
owing to the U.S. persistent moves to preserve the defunct armistice
agreement (AA.)
It is the political barrier standing in the way of improving the
DPRK-U.S. and north-south relations and achieving peace and
reunification of the peninsula. And the military demarcation line and
concrete wall are the physical barriers blocking the solution of the
urgent issues of the nation.
If the AA is replaced with a peace treaty as urged by the DPRK and
the military demarcation line and concrete wall are removed, the
demilitarized zone, the forefront of the north-south confrontation, will
turn into a peace zone and a bright prospect be opened for visits,
exchange and economic cooperation between the north and the south.
If the south Korean authorities sincerely want peace and
reconciliation between the north and the south, they should pull down
the concrete wall, to begin with. -0-
