STATEMENT ON THE 70TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDIATION OF THE GLORIOUS WORKERS' PARY OF KOREA
The Stoke On Trent Branch of the Group For The Study Of The Juche Idea, hails the 70th anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea and congratulates the Korean People on the founding of their leading party, seventy years ago. We, the adherents of the Juche Idea, in Britain, regard the Workers' Party of Korea as a party which has kept firm to revolutionary, socialist and internationalist principles throughout the 70 years of its existence and the WPK has been able to develop its ideology in keeping with contemporary events.
President KIM IL SUNG founded the Workers' Party of Korea on October 10th, 1945, drawing upon the deep historical roots, laid in preparation for the party foundation during the Anti-Japanese struggle (1925-1945). Under the leadership of Comrade KIM IL SUNG, the Korean revolutionaries the basis for the party founding through a protracted and arduous struggle and thus established the WPK. The Korean Revolution, which had experienced ups and downs in the early communist and national liberation movements of the 1920s, needed a party to which lead the revolution to victory, overcoming all trials. Comrade KIM IL SUNG formed the Down-With-Imperialism Union (DIU) in October 1926. As the first truly revolutionary organisation, the DIU was a vanguard organisation which guide the sacred work of achieving Korea's liberation and independence, and of building of socialism and communism in Korea. The DIU can be regarded as the era when the principle of Juche orientated party building came in being. It is the Workers Party of Korea which has inherited the revolutionary traditions of the Down-With-Imperialism Union, with absolute devotion.
During the Anti-Japanese Liberation Struggle of the Korean People, President KIM IL SUNG formulated the principle and method of party building. KIM IL SUNG advanced the Juche policy of the Korean Revolution and the line of a founding a party at the historic Kalun Meeting in June 1930. What was particularly important was the determination of President KIM IL SUNG to the party independently. Maintaining independence in party building is an essential requirement of the revolutionary movement. The revolutionary movement in each country aims at providing the popular masses with independence and a progressive party in a particular nation should founded by the independent efforts of the pioneers, the vanguard of the popular masses. President KIM IL SUNG stressed the need to work towards party building side by side with the struggle against Japanese imperialism. The first genuine party organisation was formed at Kalun in July 1930, basic party branches were established in Manchuria and throughout Korea at the period of the Anti-Japanese armed struggle. Giving emphasis to the armed struggle, the revolutionary army was formed before the party, on April 25th, 1932, the Korean Peoples Revolutionary Army was founded. United front work which was crucial to the promotion of the Korean Revolution, so on May 5th, 1936, the Association For The Restoration of the Fatherland was inaugurated.
After Korea was liberated on August 15th, 1945, the conditions were satisfactory for announcing the formation of a Communist Party, a Working Class Vanguard. President KIM IL SUNG advanced the policy for founding the party by taking Communists trained in the anti-Japanese as the core elements and also including all Communists who been active at home and aboard. It was essential requirement of the Korean Revolution, that all progressive and anti-imperialist elements be united in the common cause of nation building. On 10th, October, 1945, the Workers' Party of Korea was founded and proclaimed to the world, as the organiser of the all victories of the Korean People. It was due to the role played by the WPK, that the aggressive forces of allied imperialism was defeated at the hands of the Korean People led by President KIM IL SUNG during the Fatherland Liberation War (1950-53). The tasks of the Anti-Imperialist, anti-feudal Peoples Democratic Revolution were completed in the northern half of Korea and the foundations of socialism were put into place by the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea, headed by President KIM IL SUNG.
The greatest achievement of General Secretary KIM JONG IL was to carry forward and accomplish the cause of building a revolutionary party and developed the Workers' Party of Korea into a party of the Juche type. General Secretary KIM JONG IL considered it the primary task of in realising the ultimate programme of the WPK to imbue the entire party and the whole society with the Juche Idea. One of the most significant developments gained by the WPK under the direction of General Secretary KIM JONG IL , was the achievement of single-hearted unity of the party and the people. The Workers' Party of Korea being the motherly party means that it is truly of the people and assumes responsibility for the destiny of the masses and leads them. General Secretary KIM JONG IL placed the Korean Peoples Army as the main force of the revolution and paid attention to the to the strengthening of the KPA, greatly enhancing the Party's leading role during the Songun era.
As a recognition of the outstanding and creative leadership roles of Comrade KIM JONG IL, at the demand of the all the party membership and the working people, Comrade KIM JONG IL was elected on October 8th, 1997, as the General Secretary of the glorious Workers' Party of Korea. The fact that Comrade KIM JONG IL was elected as General Secretary of the WPK by the unanimous desire of the Korean People was a remarkable event in the Korean Revolution and in the strengthening of the Party. It was the demand of the all Korean People that Comrade KIM JONG IL be made the Eternal General Secretary of the Workers' Party of Korea, in April, 2012.
Under the guidance of the First Secretary KIM JONG UN, the Workers' Party of Korea has become the Party of KIM IL SUNG and of KIM JONG IL, with absolute loyalty to the revolutionary principles of the Juche Idea and the Songun Idea. First Secretary KIM JONG UN, formulated the comprehensive revolutionary theory of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism, for the first time, in history. Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism is now regarded as the leading socialist ideology, that is suited to the conditions of the 21st century. Since the election of the dear respected Comrade KIM JONG UN on April as the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the WPK has guided the Korean People upon the path of constructing a thriving socialist nation based upon the strategy of becoming an economic giant and nuclear power. The WPK's First Secretary KIM JONG UN has made it as a matter of principle that the Party and People of the Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea follow consistently the road of Songun, Independence and Socialism in the cause of building the people centred society in Juche Korea.
Proletarian internationalism and anti-imperialism have always remained the bedrock of the foreign activities of the Workers' Party of Korea. It was that the WPK that rallied the international communist movement with the proclamation of The Pyongyang Declaration in April 1992. The Pyongyang Declaration rallied all the socialist and progressives forces, put the ideal of socialism as the aspiration of humanity onto the agenda. Throughout its existence, the Worker's Party of Korea has fought against revisionism, dogmatism and flunkeyism. Ever since its appearance on the international arena, the WPK has battled with modern revisionism on many fronts and today, the Workers' Party of Korea continues the struggle against the modern revisionists and their centres. The Korean Party and People will carry on the future live their own socialist way without approval from other countries.
The Stoke On Trent Branch of the Juche Idea Study Group calls upon all working class militants and progressive people, to celebrate and commemorate the 70th anniversary of the foundation of the Workers' Party of Korea, as a common festival of all those peoples who aspire after independence and socialism.
