North Side Committee for Implementing June 15 Joint Declaration Denounces US-S. Korea Joint Military Drills

A spokesman for the North Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration made public on March 13 a statement in denunciation of the US-south Korea joint military drills against the DPRK.

The statement bitterly condemned the drills as a traitorous, anti-reunification crime to block national reconciliation and unity, drive the inter-Korean relations into a worse catastrophe and bring nuclear disaster to Koreans.

It is needless to say that neither trust-based dialogue can be held nor the reunion of separated families and relatives be achieved under the grave situation in which distrust and confrontation among fellow countrymen are getting serious and the danger of military conflict and war is increasing, the statement said, and went on:

If the present grave situation is left intact, a nuclear war would break out though Koreans do not want it, and the Korean nation would fall victim to it.

When a nuclear war against the DPRK breaks out owing to the US and the south Korean puppet forces, the US will finally end by the DPRK’s standoff with it and great war for national reunification, and the den of the puppet forces where the US imperialist aggression forces are stationed and their war servants are gathered will be annihilated.

The US should clearly see the ever-mounting spirit of the Koreans against the US and war and their will for independent reunification, stop the reckless war moves and withdraw all aggression forces from south Korea at once.

The south Korean authorities should know that if they persist in the moves for confrontation and war against fellow countrymen, turning a deaf ear to the enraged people's mindset and currying favour with the US, they will never evade a miserable defeat by the resolute protest and punishment of the whole nation.

Whoever caring about the destiny of the nation should oppose the joint military drills with outside forces which are bringing nuclear disaster and turn out in the righteous and patriotic struggle to protect peace of the country and security of the nation.

The south Koreans from all walks of life should more dynamically turn out in the struggle for smashing the dangerous moves of the US and the puppet forces to ignite a nuclear war and thus root out the cause of confrontation and war on this land and bring about great changes in the north-south relations to actively join in glorifying this significant year as a historic one for opening up a wide avenue to independent reunification.
