Firstly, peace and
independence cannot be achieved in Europe without the the complete
and total end of the domination by US imperialism. In order to
thwart the high-handedness and big power
chauvinism of the US is
very necessary to maintain strong independence.
As the great leader
President Kim Il Sung said to a Venezuelan delegation in 1981 “if
developed capitalist countries of Europe
such as France, West Germany and Britain followed
the road of independence and the whole of Europe was
turned independent, a new world war could be prevented
”
It would be unthinkable
to achieve any substantial social or democratic advance in Europe
whilst it is still under the domination and tutelage of US
imperialism. For decades US imperialism has blocked social advance
and hampered progressive movements all over the world .As the great
leader President Kim Il Sung said
'US Imperialism
is the most barbarous and shameless aggressor of modern times,the
main force of aggression and war,the ringleader of world reaction,the
bulwark of modern colonialism,the strangler of national liberation
and independence and disruptor of world peace'
(Kim Il Sung September
18th 1969)
US imperialism still
remains the most aggressive imperialist power and chieftain of world
imperialism which subordinates all capitalist countries to it. It
acts as a “world policeman “
and intervenes in many
lands across the globe. It maintains a huge network of military bases
throughout the world .
Recently the US has been caught out spying on other countries. As
dear respected Marshal
Kim Jong Un pointed out in his New Year Address;
“the
imperialists persisted in interference and war moves threatening the
independence of other sovereign states and the right of mankind to
existence”
Europe has never been
free from the power politics of the US . During the cold war period
the US even actively planned to carry out or instigate military
coups in countries where communists got elected to government and
throughout the world carried out military coups. armed interventions,
sabotage, assassinations and dirty tricks campaigns. Europe was no
exception to this for example it has been revealed that the US CIA
planned to carry out a coup if the the Italian Communist Party won an
election and also the hostile campaign against the left reformist Mr
Tony Benn to stop him becoming the leader of the Labour party and
possibly UK prime minister. Also the sinister terrorist “Gladio”
outfit was created by US agents in European countries to destroy by
force left wing movements and assassinate leftist figures .Even today
the US still interferes by so called ‘colour revolutions’ ,a
stereotyped method of undermining and then overthrowing independent
governments. It is the US that is the author of the events in the
Ukraine. The “colour revolution” is essentially a new form of an
old trick or as we say old wine in new bottles.
Europe is still subject
to US domination and interference . The domination of the US is
particularly acute in Britain which has US troops stationed on its
soil . Excessive British governments have
dispatched many troops to help the US imperialists in countries such
as Iraq and Afghanistan. This is against the wishes of the vast
majority of the British people who desire peace. There is not a
‘special relationship” but vassalage and submission to the
interests of the US imperialists. The domination of US imperialist
“trash culture” is prevalent in Britain,with most films shown on
TV being from the US and many British TV programmes being simply
copies of US ones. Pop singers sing in an American style. Such so
called culture is in fact a poison turning people into mindless
morons and degenerates Other European countries too suffer from a
lack of cultural independence. The time honoured culture of France
has been despoiled by the construction of “Euro-Disney” near
Paris inflicting the banality of Mickey Mouse upon the French.
Leader Kim Jong Il lucidly referred to the insidious
process of the the obliteration of
national cultures in his work On Preserving the Juche
Character and National Character of the Revolution and
Construction.“ said
“The
imperialists’ reactionary policy of suppressing the Juche character
of nations and obliterating national traits is now taking on a new
form in the guise of gangster-like fuss about the trend towards a
“monolithic” world .In the situation where each country and
nation shape their destiny with their own ideas and systems, there
can be no “monolithic” world which covers all spheres of
politics, economy and culture. With social development and ties and
interchange among different nations becoming closer, common features
increase in the lives of nations. However, this process always
presupposes the independent and individualistic development of
nations and takes place on the basis of such development.
The imperialists
have cooked up the trend of a “monolithic world” for the purpose
of reducing the whole world to the Western-style “free world” and
subjugating and assimilating all nations to themselves . All
countries and nations must see clearly the danger of the imperialist
policy of obliterating nations which is pursued in the name of the
trend towards a “monolithic” world and must intensify the
struggle to defeat the dominationist manoeuvres of the imperialists.”
Another term for this trend of a monolithic world is cosmopolitanism
. Cosmopolitanism is the ideology of the imperialist bourgeoisie.
The theory of cosmopolitanism regards the principle of sovereignty
and the traditions of national cultures as obsolescent concepts, that
the market forces should have supremacy globally i.e. unfettered
international control by the monopolies. Really cosmopolitanism is
the ideological foundation of globalization. The track record of
imperialism has been one of the wanton destruction of national
independence, military, economic and cultural means. Thus the fight
for the sovereignty and independence and cultural identity against
the trans-national
corporations' tyranny is a struggle for the development of
independence and social progress.
Economic domination by
the US still exists to some extent though this has been weakened by
the decline of the dollar and the rise of the European Union ,however
US monopolies still have footholds in the European continent and in
particular have penetrated into the former socialist countries of
Eastern Europe many of which have been turned into vassal states and
pro US sycophants by the reactionary rulers that seized power after
1989. The European Union has tended to side with
the US on most issues for example the EU has played a most reactionary anti DPRK ,
anti-socialist role by backing US imperialism's “human rights” offensive against the
DPRK. The EU itself is rejected in many countries and there are strong anti EU
movements. In Britain the EU is very unpopular.
In recent years many European countries have been in throes of
severe crisis and austerity.
Supranational bodies such as the IMF, World Bank , EU and European Central Bank have
imposed austerity and spending cuts in a number of countries . Some countries have become
virtual appendages of bodies such as the EU , IMF and World Bank. Economic
independence and self-reliance are not only desirable but is an
absolute necessity . The Juche
idea shows the way to achieve economic independence and the DPRK is a shining example of
self-reliance . As the great leader comrade
Kim Jong Il said
"It is only
when one displays a great revolutionary spirit of self-reliance that
one can have faith in one's own strength, exploit the internal
resources of one's country to the maximum and conduct the revolution
and construction with success. Experience shows that only when one
gives full play to the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance can one
surmount every manner of difficulty and ordeal.”
The great leader
President Kim Il Sung made sure the DPRK stuck to the line of
independence
and self-reliance.
After
the war he put forward a unique line of economic construction to give
priority to the development of heavy industry and simultaneously
develop light industry and agriculture, and led his people to get rid
of flunkeyism and dogmatism and take the road of independence. When
other socialist countries persistently forced Korea to join the CMEA,
insisting on the “integrated economy” within them, he never
vacillated in the slightest nor deviated an iota from the line of
building the independent national economy. In the mid-1980s the trend
of “reform” and “openness” was sweeping the socialist
countries,but he firmly maintained the independent stand and held up
higher the red flag, thus defending the socialist system of Korea
reliably even though others abandoned socialism.
Independence,sovereignty
and most of all, self-reliance are the lifeblood of the Democratic
Peoples Republic of Korea. Indeed, the Juche Idea has its guiding
principles, that the independent stand must be maintained. In
practice, this means to have Juche in ideology, independence in
politics, self-sufficiency in the economy and self-reliance in
defence. Social wealth and social relations, the means of production,
exchange and distribution are firmly in the hands of the working
people of the DPRK. The IMF, the World Bank and the Trans-National
Corporations do not run the economy of the DPRK, MacDonald s,
Coca-Cola, Warner Brothers and 20th Century Fox do not control the
culture of the DPRK and NATO does not dictate the military affairs of
the DPRK. Only the Korean People with their Leader and Party, is the
sovereign body in the DPRK. Dear respected Marshal Kim Jong Un has pledged
that the DPRK will hold fast to the line of independence, Songun and socialism. Moreover in
his recent speech “Let Us Hasten Final Victory through a
revolutionary ideological
offensive “ comrade
Kim Jong Un has re emphasised the importance of self-reliance.
Although the DPRK
and the countries of Europe are very different in terms of history ,
culture and geographical situation , the basic idea of independence
and self-reliance advocated by the Juche idea can be applied in
Europe as well , we can kick out the transnational corporations and
build an
independent national
economies that fully serve the needs of the people.
During the past 14 or so years young people in Europe have taken
up the struggle against capitalist and imperialist globalization very
intensively . In recent years we have seen the “Occupy”
movement which is a continuation of the anti-globalisation movement
.However this movement lacks leadership and a clear perspective on
the alternative to 'globalization'.
The obvious solution to
'globalization' is to develop self -reliant, self -sufficient
national economies serving national needs. This is where the Juche
idea comes in . The Korean people under the leadership of the WPK and
the great leader comrade Kim Il Sung built up a powerful independent
national economy according to the Juche idea which emphasises the
independent and creative stand. The DPRK economy is able to produce
to meet local needs .The Juche based independent socialist national
economy of the DPRK shows that "another world is possible".
Our organisations, the JISGE and ASSPUK hold that the work of the
great leader comrade Kim Jong Il “On Preserving the Juche
Character and National Character in the Revolution and Construction
“ is a powerful manifesto against globalization that needs
to be disseminated widely and studied .
To this end the domination
of the US and its arbitrary dominationist practices Europe must
become
independent , to do so
Juche must be established . The Juche idea must be applied and
Europeans must become the masters of Europe. Allow me to conclude
with a quote from the great leader President
Kim Il Sung said
“Building
a free and peaceful new world is the mature requirement of our times.
Today, domination and subjugation, aggression and war can benefit
nobody; for the peoples of all countries to develop independently and
live peacefully together is the correct way for humanity to take.
Historical progress may suffer setbacks, but the forces of
independence and peace will grow in strength as the days go by, and
the just cause of creating a new world will triumph without fail.”
Let
us embody the optimism contained in this words and put them into
effect.
