Pyongyang,
April 24 (KCNA) -- A national meeting was held at the People's Palace
of Culture on Thursday to celebrate the 82nd anniversary of the founding
of the Korean People's Army.
Present there were Kim Yong Nam, Pak Pong Ju, Jang Jong Nam and
other senior officials of party, state and army, the chairperson of a
friendly party, officials of party, armed forces organs, the Cabinet,
public organizations, ministries and national institutions, service
personnel of the KPA and the Korean People's Internal Security Forces,
officials of institutions, factories and enterprises, heroes, those who
had the honor of being received by President Kim Il Sung , leader Kim Jong Il and Marshal Kim Jong Un ,
families of service personnel, those of merits in aiding the army and
working people in Pyongyang, the chief of the Pyongyang mission of the
Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front and overseas Koreans staying
in the socialist homeland.
Present there on invitation were foreign diplomatic envoys and
members of the military attaches corps here and foreign guests.
KPA Army General Ri Yong Gil, alternate member of the Political
Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and chief
of the KPA General Staff, made a report at the meeting.
He said:
The KPA is a genuine army of the leader and the party as it has
grown stronger over the past several decades under the cares of Kim Il Sung , Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un .
Kim Il Sung founded the
Korean People's Revolutionary Army, the first revolutionary armed forces
of Juche type, on April 25, Juche 21 (1932).
This made it possible for the Korean people to have their genuine
revolutionary army guided by the Juche idea and led by the peerless
Songun commander for the first time in history and marked the beginning
of the glorious history of the Korean revolution which has advanced and
won victories by dint of arms.
It was the great patriotic exploits performed by Kim Il Sung
that he provided the Korean people with a powerful treasured sword for
carving out their independent destiny, defeated the most ferocious two
imperialisms in one generation, founded a modern defence industry and
put all people under arms and turned the whole country into a fortress,
thereby converting the country into an invulnerable country capable of
defending itself.
The history of the KPA is the one of Kim Il Sung 's army-building and, at the same time, the one of Kim Jong Il 's Songun leadership.
Kim Jong Il made sure that
the revolutionary soldier spirit was created by the KPA in the most
arduous period of the Korean revolution and enforced the Songun politics
in all spheres with the KPA as a main force, thus leading the struggle
for defending socialism to a victory after another and paving a wide
avenue for building a thriving nation.
The KPA greeted a glorious era by having as its supreme commander Kim Jong Un , another commander of Mt. Paektu.
Kim Jong Un set forth the
modeling of the whole army on Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism as the general
task for army-building and made a scientific clarification of all issues
arising in the efforts to implement it, providing an immortal guiding
principle for bolstering up the revolutionary armed forces.
Kim Jong Un was reelected
first chairman of the National Defence Commission of the DPRK at the
First Session of the 13th Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK. This
was an event to be specially recorded in the national history as it
provided a sure guarantee for the victory of the Songun revolution.
The reporter recalled that the KPA has performed proud feats
unprecedented in the world history of army-building, remaining loyal to
the cause of the party and leaders over the past 80 odd years.
The situation remains so tense on the Korean peninsula that a
nuclear war may break out any time due to the frantic anti-DPRK rackets
of the U.S. imperialists and its puppet forces, he noted.
If the U.S. imperialists and its allied forces intrude into the
inviolable territory, air and seas of the DPRK even 0.001mm, its army
and people will mercilessly wipe out the aggressors with weaponry of the
revolution and the working class and achieve the historic cause of
national reunification, he declared. -0-
