DPRK's Popular Policies

 Pyongyang, March 21 (KCNA) -- The Korean people lead a truly happy life in their socialist motherland thanks to the popular policies pursued by the Workers' Party of Korea and the state.
    The Agrarian Reform Law, the Labor Law, the Law on Sex Equality, the Law on Nationalization of Major Industries and others were promulgated in Juche 35 (1946).
    The laws provided rights to a worthwhile life and the working and living conditions to the people who turned out to build new democratic Korea.
    During the Fatherland Liberation War the universal free medical service was established, a state measure was taken for ensuring the working people's rest at sanatoria and holiday homes and there appeared a rest home for service personnel of the People's Army on the frontline.
    Measures were taken to eliminate the agricultural tax in kind between 1964 and 1966.
    The Korean people receive free medical service at the state expense.
    The universal compulsory primary education was introduced from 1956, the universal compulsory secondary education from 1958 and the universal compulsory eleven-year education was fully enforced across the country from September 1, 1975.
    "The Law on the Nursing and Upbringing of Children of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea" was adopted in 1976 and "Theses on Socialist Education" made public in 1977.
    The law "On abolishing the tax system" was promulgated at the Third Session of the Fifth Supreme People's Assembly on March 21, 1974.
    The Socialist Labor Law, the unique labor charter, was enacted and promulgated amid the steady improvement of the socialist labor policy year after year.
    The state benefits are given through the national social insurance programs and the social security system.
    The law on the universal compulsory 12-year education system was promulgated at the Sixth Session of the 12th Supreme People's Assembly held in 2012. -0-
