Happy Laughter of People

The great Kim Jong Il was a people’s leader who enforced policies of loving and trusting the people.

His policies of love and trust are based on the viewpoint that man is the most precious and powerful being in the world.

An anecdote proves it.

One day in July Juche 65(1976) leader Kim Jong Il climbed up Mt. Paektu.

On going down from it, he suggested going to Naegok Spa.

Officials requested him to drop in at Samjiyon and take breakfast before leaving.

Leader Kim Jong Il said it would be good to do even one more good thing before leaving for Pyongyang and urged them to hurry with no care for him.

He went on to say that it would be very good to build a sanatorium at Naegok Spa which is efficacious against all kinds of disease so that sick people could recuperate and visitors to the revolutionary battle sites take a rest on their way back.

He dipped his hand into water to feel the temperature and quantity of water and taught detailed ways to build a modern sanatorium and public welfare facilities.

Just at that time a forest railway train with a full load of logs ran on the tracks across the village, blowing a loud whistle.

The noise of train broke the silence of the village.

Looking at the train, leader Kim Jong Il said a sanatorium for patients should be quiet and gave an instruction to remove the railway somewhere else.

As for the railway, it was helping carry logs to different fields of the national economy every day.

In the small valley surrounded by mountains the railway could be removed only after cutting a tunnel through the mountain.

Its length seemed several hundred meters in a rough estimate.

Leader Kim Jong Il said however difficult and complicated the project might be, it could not be problem for relaxation and medical treatment of people and instructed officials to transfer the railway.

He also gave officials detailed teachings on the building a bath and its management and the methods of treatment.

Afterwards, the railway was removed far-off from the spa village.

The happy laughter of people rang out at the spa instead of noisy whistle, which was brought by loving care of leader Kim Jong Il.

The life of leader Kim Jong Il was filled with such legend-like stories on his warm affection for and trusts in the people.

His policies of love and trust are carried forward as they were by Marshal Kim Jong Un.

February 16 is the birthday of leader Kim Jong Il.

Greeting the day, the Korean people express boundless reverence to him who devoted his whole life for the country and people.
