Celebrate the Down With Imperialism Union
" The mission of the
Down-with-Imperialism Union is, as its name suggests, to overthrow
imperialism. Therefore, its programme should set as its immediate task
the defeat of Japanese imperialism, the sworn enemy of the Korean
people, and the achievement of the liberation and independence of Korea,
and as its final objective the building of socialism and communism in
Korea and, further, the destruction of imperialism everywhere and the
building of communism throughout the world. "

Founding meeting of the Down With Imperialism Union in 1926On the 17th October, the Korean people celebrated the
anniversary of 87 years since the founding of the Down With Imperialism Union .Such an important date
is celebrated both by Brazilian communists and Korean communists as it is important
President Kim Il Sung was the great leader of the Korean revolution and the initiator of Korean communist movement .In the early twentieth century , the situation of Korea was one of unprecedented bankruptcy . After
spending almost the entire nineteenth century fighting arms in hand
foreign aggressors ( in 1876 , the great-grandfather of Kim Il Sung ,
Kim Ung U, led a popular uprising in Pyongyang to sink the U.S.
ship U.S. Sherman , which came with the aim of plundering the city) , from 1910 on the territory of Korea is annexed by imperialist Japan . The
Korean nation , possessing an ancient tradition and patriotic
resistance against aggressors outsiders lover work and known for being
one of the cradles of humanity , is bound to become , from day to night ,
a nation without a country and without territory , submitted to Japanese imperialism . Unprecedented
crimes were committed against the Korean people , made only to ensure
the fabulous profits of monopolistic Japanese reactionaries .President
Kim Il Sung , in his Memoirs - "With the Century" has commented that
he had been in several colonial countries worldwide . However
, there was no known colonialism as barbaric , murderous and fierce as
Japanese colonialism , which enslaved the nation and prohibited the use of the national language . Tens
of thousands of Koreans were killed, tortured and imprisoned simply for
refusing to stop speaking their national language , or " Japanise "
their names . Korean
historians have shown that , after 35 years of colonial tyranny (
1910-1945 ) , about 3 million Koreans were abducted and forced to work
as slaves in public works in Japan 200,000 Korean women were abducted to
serve as " comfort women " . In other words , sex slaves of the Japanese imperialist army .The Korean people fought heroically against the Japanese oppressors and colonial slavery through various forms . In
the early twentieth century , was founded the Independence Army , aiming
to liberate Korea from the domain of Japanese imperialism . However,
the absence of a clear program of struggle on the part of the army, as
well as reformist and pacifist illusions by their top leaders , it
immediately became a force unable to point to the correct path to the
liberation struggle of the Korean people . The
Communist Party of Korea , founded in 1925 , was soon to be dissolved
in 1928 due to the repression of Japanese imperialism and sectarian
strife within.Highly
exalt the young Kim Il Sung (then still used the name Kim Song Ju ) for
being the great leader to have the most correct position before such
problems as complex . Kim Il Sung himself , early, at age 13 , came to join the ranks of the Independence Army . He became disillusioned with the path taken by nationalist militants , so he said in the founding manifesto of the Down With Imperialism Union"
How , then, should we fight imperialism ? There must fight the way the
nationalist activists do. Firstly , its principles and its policies have
serious weaknesses . As we have seen in the area of Huadian , they
preach " restoration " of national sovereignty .
[ ... ] But your target is , in essence , restore the " monarchy " ,
which represents the interests of a small number of persons in the
owning class . nationalists are trying to carry out their slogans
unconvincing through the small strength
of a small elite , not through a mass movement involving large sectors
of the population . Indeed , their slogans for " restoration " of
national sovereignty and its small methods are inefficient to organize
and mobilize the working masses and , accordingly, are unsuccessful in the fight against imperialism .On
account of their worship to the great powers , the nationalist
activists try to gain independence with the help of other countries ,
not by their own strength . During
the March First Movement , the Nationalists , posing as "
representatives " of the nation , were fascinated by the illusion of the
" doctrine of national self-determination " advocated by U.S. President
Woodrow Wilson and preached non-violence to the masses , making foolish
attempts to gain "independence " through " petitions " and relying on foreign forces , unsuccessfully . Despite
this enormous lesson, nationalists also seek help from larger countries
, rather than trying to gain independence by mobilizing our people . As
the principles of nationalist activists , their policies and attitudes
has nothing in common with the interests of the proletariat which
occupies the vast majority of the population . The nationalist activists are disunited and throw themselves in factional strife . "Through
concrete struggle , by the method of going to the masses , learn from
them and teach them , throwing them into the fight, Kim Il Sung learned
from the mistakes of nationalist and communist movement precedent , and
drew correct conclusions for the construction a
new organization that fought for national and social liberation against
Japanese imperialism , the future construction of socialism and
communism in Korea and the defeat of imperialism worldwide . Unlike
the Korean nationalist movement , which intended to gain independence
from Korea without a clear program of struggle through " petitions " or
begging the independence of the country relying on other foreign powers ,
or the Korean communist movement precedent , apart from concrete
struggle of the masses and infurnado in sectarian skirmishes under the
supposed " fight " for the recognition of the Third International , Kim
Il Sung formulates the correct line of the masses own the Revolution ,
and the Revolution will advance through the mobilization of these . Consequently
, the independence of Korea would win by mobilising their own strength
of the Korean people , without any illusions that foreign countries
could give you the independence of grace .Such
a conclusion , the most advanced of the communist movement and
patriotic Korean time, would be the starting point , the basis for the
construction of the Juche Idea , the ideology of the current Workers' Party of Korea, and that played a decisive role in all the victories Korean people in the anti-imperialist struggle and the building of socialism .
The Down With Imperialism Union , which incorporated in its political line
the great experiences of struggle of the Korean people against their
foreign oppressors , also incorporated what was most advanced in the
experience of the international working class struggle . Under
the influence of his father , the great revolutionary Kim Hyong Jik ,
who admired the October Socialist Revolution in Russia , Kim Il Sung
began studying the October Revolution and Lenin's works . In
the founding manifesto of the Union to Defeat Imperialism , Kim Il Sung
shows the great need for the communists and revolutionaries studying
deeply the experience of the Russian proletariat , which overthrew the
tsarist government and founded the first state of workers and peasants
in world history . The
October Revolution , as the biggest blow by imperialism has taken so
far , according to a new path to the liberation struggle of the peoples
of the colonies and semi-colonies , and could not fail to exert great
influence among the revolutionary movement in Korea . Enabled
the Korean people advance by way of genuine independence against
colonialism , avoiding dependence and subjugation to any power
whatsoever. Kim
Il Sung , even as a young man only 14 years old , shows great
assimilation of Lenin's theory on imperialism , as well demonstrated in
the founding manifesto of the Union to Defeat Imperialism : The
antagonistic contradiction , unable to be resolved within the framework capitalism , between imperialism and the oppressed nations . The
leading role of the proletariat as the most advanced and consequent
strength of the anti-colonial movement , and the need for the
proletariat to go all patriotic forces , democratic and national cull
the bastion of imperialism and build a democratic regime in the service
of building a new country free, independent and sovereign .The Down With Imperialism
Union set the stage for the construction of
the future Young Communist League , the mass organizations such as the
Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland and the construction
of the Anti -Japanese People's Guerrilla Army ( later Korean Peoples Revolutionary Army and later Korean People's Army ) . The
Korean revolution , thanks to the solid theoretical and practical bases
released by the UDI , advanced on the path of independence , fending
off the interference of big powers , consolidating democracy and popular
building socialism .The Union for Defeating Imperialism is therefore a great asset not only the Korean people , as all toiling humanity . The
Korean people , who now strides to build a new and prosperous socialist
power , rich and happy , could not without great effort of its main
leader , the great Kim Il Sung , in building it and take Revolution to the Korean one correct path . We, the Brazilian communists , marvel at the high, and we join the Korean people to celebrate their 87th anniversary .Long live the Korean revolution !Viva the Down With Imperialism Union on its 87th anniversary!Long live the Great Leader Comrade Kim Il Sung !
