UK KFA Statement on the hostile policy of the British government to the DPRK

UK KOREAN FRIENDSHIP ASSOCIATION

                 London 18th of February 2013

The UK Korean Friendship Association in a statement issued today condemning the hostile and unfriendly attitude to the Democratic People's Republic of Korea by the reactionary British government.

The British government initially took the extreme and unprecedented step of interfering in the DPRK's space by condemning the launch of the Kwangmysong 3-2 by the DPRK on the 12th of December even calling the DPRK ambassador the FCO . Then the UK voted in the UNSC to apply sanctions on the DPRK for launching the Kwangmysong 3-2 . It is not the business of the UK government whether the  DPRK launches satellites or not and the UK has never challenged or crticised any other country. This a hypocritical and one-sided policy .
Not content with that the British government took a very hostile policy to the DPRK's self defensive nuclear test on February 12th. The test was the demand of the Korean people and a just measure to defend the sovereignty of the DPRK however the British government took a most reactionary policy at the instigation of the US.  Certain figures of the British government went on television to attack the DPRK's nuclear test and an arrogant imperialist attitude towards the DPRK was taken. This was hypocritical as Britain carried out nuclear tests in the past . Also the British government has never criticised the US  for carrying out nuclear tests.
Instead joining the US inspired hysterical clamour against the DPRK Britain should pursue an independent policy and respect the independence and sovereignty of the DPRK.   The British government must break with the hostile anti-DPRK policies and not repeat the tragic past history which included British troops acting as mercenaries for US imperialism in the past Korean war. This action in fighting against the Korean people , holding back reunification brought shame and dishonour on the UK.
